Carlos Miguel Ribeiro Dias - Cafú

Changed the game when he came on. The number 10 spot is realistically up for grabs and he did well staking a claim today.

I don't think Garner, Colback and Yates works.

I agree with the points above-he’s wholehearted and a good guy to have around. To be fair todays game suited him-they were ragged and didn’t press effectively and this gave him space and time. Like all the Portuguese lads we’ve had, when they get space and time their technique is top notch.
Where he struggles is in fast paced games where there little time and the midfield is a scrap.

Davis' goals were great but Cafu changed the game today and was my choice for Man of the Match

Thing is they parked the bus for a lot of the game so it doesn't really matter who was playing there, it was very congested. Johnson floats inside a lot to give Spence room as well. I think you just accept that they may have quiet games try find other ways of attacking.

Moans on Vital and here when he came on - I was only listening on radio, but I heard:

turned inside out by Ince but it led to nothing

several moments of deft touches, culminating in setting Silva free to create the fourth goal.

I don't think we realise how good Cafu is.

It was very congested today I agree, Reading weren't rolling over and were well up for the fight. The 3 mentioned though are good safe midfielders who won't let you down. It needed a number 10 to take a few risks and play a flicked ball or a one touch to pick up the pace which was flat in the first.

Cafu in my opinion duly obliged and gave us much more space with his quick link up play, where as before we were playing long ball down the wings.

His pass to Silva for the 4th goal was top top top class. Been an avid supporter of this lad since the beginning, him almost kicking the shit out of Sibley puts him in the cult hero status for me.

Technically, he’s a good baller. I like him in our no10 role.

Well prompted - was wondering what to play with headphones at 4 am, and it has to be Workingman's Dead.

"I'm a stone jack baller and my heart is true" (Easy wind). What an album.

That firt time layoff to Xande Silva is hands down the best first touch I've ever seen from a Forest player. Watch it again, it's incredible.

A grand total of 5 touches from defence to goal, and that was definitely the touch that made it. To weight it well enough that Silva could basically get onto it and cross, was unbelievable. Had one of the names in the Premier League done it, you'd be seeing it on MOTD all the time.

Was impressed with him yesterday, Can pass and hold the ball well , Worth a go in the number 10 role for me.

Nothing beats the Simon Cox touch/goal when he plucked the ball out the air and dinked the 'keeper in pretty much one movement.

Cafu is not the future of the club but I think he has always been underappreciated throughout his time here, he has always performed to a good level and don't forget he was one of the best performers under Hughton.

The guy is always committed and seems like a really good guy off the pitch.

He can also play any of the midfield roles from holding to attacking and I would be confident for him to step into Garners role if he got injured or suspended

With Garner going back to Man Utd next season, should we look for a replacement or give Cafu a go instead?

I don't think Cafu will be more than a squad player here

Garner is Premier League quality over the past 3-4 months, we will likely need to bring somebody in to replace him

If we go up we could keep most of the band together. Maybe Spence would be hard to hold onto even with promotion but the others I think would be happy to stay for the right price.

We wouldn’t be miles off the pace as we stand now. A few additions would make us competitive at that level. IMO obviously but we haven’t got many weak links within this squad right now

Whilst I don't want to mention the "Scottish play" on here, I think there are parallels with Carvalho, although I think Cafu is probably more effective in the Championship.
What I mean is in the right set up, against the right opposition Cafu can be really effective. When any of those things are wrong hes a passenger. Thats the opposite of Jimmy G who is versatile but even more importantly gets really stuck in when we need it or things aren't happening for him with the ball.

Tidy again, Though missed a sitter but had the composure to lay off Johnson rather than lose his head .

Spot on, there's a time and a place for Cafu but it certainly isn't week in and week out. He's not disciplined enough to occupy one of the 2 CM positions but he has done a tidy job playing further forward where he has less responsibility

Was going to say the same, not quite sure how he missed tbh but at least he had the composure to get the ball back and lay it off.
