Podence is a big loss. Not enough end product, but he could really torment any defence. We'll see if we'll get a replacement by tomorrow.
The others that left (Koutris on loan to Majorca, Benzia to Dijon), or are about to leave (Guerrero on loan to Leganes, Meriah somewhere) are benchers or fringe players, so if we are weaker or not depends on whether we sign a winger and a midfielder by tomorrow.

This "rated" business seems to fool or mislead a lot of folk. Just because the buy out clause is £25m doesn't mean the player is worth that, it's artificially high to cover what the player might be worth one day if everything wonderful happens and he develops perfectly. Wasn't Diogo Goncalves similarly "rated"?
If any of these players were really rated at £25m they sure as hell wouldn't be coming anywhere near Forest.

I think he just gave up, when he realized he was not rated highly enough for a starter position. It is often the case with young loanees. They get frustrated and they just wait for their loan spell to be over.

Release clause does not equal valuation.
It is law for Portuguese clubs to have a release clause for all players, so most young players will have a fee like this in their contract.

I have argued for a long time that the Loan system is both corrupt and works against the youngsters who are hoovered up by the big, rich clubs then sent out season after season to whoever is desperate enough to subscribe to the corruption.
Loans system should be stopped for ever at the end of the season.

It is easy to pick out Semedo, bar a few bright spots at the start of the season, from about october on he has been either injured or relatively poor. I get the criticism for him. But why does Yates manage to escape it? It was like playing with 10 men the other night. Yes Silva had a poor game but he never hid, he still made himself available for the ball, still worked hard. Yates ambles around the pitch... slowly, he offers little in a defensive role as he doesn't seem to have the brains for it, he offers nothing going forward as every pass is 5 yard backwards. I have been an advocate of his in the past, but this season he has been dire.
