I'm not suggesting the bloke you're referring to is comparable Keith, but Ricky Lambert drifted around the lower-leagues scoring goals until Southampton (I think?) took a punt on him, despite earlier being regarded as too one-paced to make the step-up. He ended up winning full England caps IIRC?

Aye, and whatever happened to that lad who used to play for Fleetwood Town, summats Vardy?

I've seen Doyle on numerous occasions. He isn't Ricky Lambert or Jamie Vardy. Like what has been said, he is at his level.

Just posted in the Billy Sharp thread that Leeds are in for him too.

Surely they can't land both.
Wouldn't blame them for trying, last season they faltered after Jan and having a small squad cost them automatic promotion. No such thing as overkill where goalscorers are concerned either, they're losing their second top scorer in Nketiah too.

Leeds 11/10
Birmingham 4/1
Derby 12/1
Preston 16/1

Sky bet.

Birmingham, Derby and Preston? Shows what the bookies know.

Even less chance of him going to any of those three then him coming here, and the chances of us getting him are only marginally above zero.

But how can he turn down Roonys Rams

Leeds will be getting first dibs on any players in Jan, they are going to throw the f***ing sink at it after their fine start. No playoff gambles this time around.

He is a Brum lad and had a great season with them last time, so I can see the logic in the short odds for him going back to rekindle his career, and to help out his old mates.
Equally I could go along with logic that says he might not want to go back there as he would possibly get a lot of stick from fans and players for being lured away the mega-bucks of £50k per week.
Pro footballers can be as cruel as school kids: " oh look at Billy Big-bollocks... couldn't score in the Prem".
Can Forest afford to gamble £50k per week on a 23 year old who may be low on confidence?
And anyway, his success at Brum was based on him playing off Jutkewiccz, a 6ft 4in big man, plus Monk's percentage football of boot it long and hope.
Forest don't play that way... and I reckon Adams might struggle to make an impact here.
Can we have Soton's Danny Ings instead?

Thought Chetts might put in a good word for us but Che is a Leicester boy after all.

This one is looking really tough to pull off. It would be my pick.

If those figures are true then this is absolutely the signing to go all out for.
