I believe Adams has previously said his name is pronounced “Shay”.

You know you’ve lumbered your kid with a stupid bloody name if they have to tell people how to say it

Brighton rotated heavily so it wouldn't surprise me if Murray could still be on the cards. Either him or Adams would be great, and would provide real competition for Grabban.

How are either of them going to provide competition to Grabban?

Adams has started one game all season and hasn't registered a single goal, while Murray has scored a whopping single goal in the League Cup, yet they are supposedly targets to compete with our number 1 striker who has already dispatched a dozen goals this season.

If that is the potential we are considering then we are f**ked.

We need another quality striker on the books, not a loanee who may or may not turn it on while here for 6 months because he's not good enough at his parent club.

If we are serious, it's time to splash the cash, not fanny around thinking we can do it on the cheap.

Agree they're short of minutes this season but I'd be very excited about both / either of them. They're not going to come though.

I'm not sure many Premier League regulars are going to want to drop down to a play-off chasing Championship team.

Who said anything about a Premier League regular?

There's plenty of options that will do more than a good job in the Championship.

They might cost a bob or two, but a transfer fee for someone already doing the business has got to be better than loan fees for someone who isn't even playing regularly.

So from a lower league here or some foreign chap no one's heard of? Either way it's a huge risk as they won't know the championship. At least Che A has a track record. Not that he'd come anyway.

Adams scored 22 goals in this division last season. Yes, he's not done the biz for Southampton but if he had, then there'd be no talk of him leaving. Also, he's made 8 starts and a further 8 sub appearances this season.

He'd be a superb signing, alas I'd suggest there's no chance of it happening.

Nottingham's dirty secret
Turning yer nose up at Che Adams as he isn't getting games in the Prem is lunacy. If he was we wouldn't be discussing a possible transfer.

He's the best we could hope for. He tore the league up only last season FFS!

Che Adams is a better player than anyone in our squad at the moment. Completely out of our reach, but if there was any possibility whatsoever of bringing him in (there isn't) we'd be mad to turn him down.

I bow to your superior knowledge Baggio, must remember to check my facts in future :faceslap:

If that's the case, what are we f***ing about at then

I'm all in on him, but not Glenn-bloody-Murray.

Natural goalscorer who scored a fair few last season. Getting on a bit but the physicality required in the Championship is a step down.

We're talking about someone who needs to provide competition for Grabban, not someone to replace him. Someone like Murray would be perfect if it could be done on the relative cheap. Probably would be a good influence in the dressing room too and be able to give some tips to young players coming through.

Murray's another Murphy, they're great on short term basis if cheap.

If we are looking to take a punt on someone cheap, either foreign or from the lower leagues then the man on fire is Eoin Doyle, currently playing for Swindon on loan from Bradford City. His loan deal expires at the beginning of next month and his permanent contract at Bradford ends in the summer.

He's on fire at the moment having scored in each of Swindons last 10 games, scoring 16 goals iirc.

He's a feisty, in your face Dubliner who has never really made the grade in the Championship, but has scored goals for fun in Leagues 1 and 2.

Bradford City, desperately want to offload him following a training ground incident with Jermaine Beckford and also need the cash, they are broke. I reckon a cheeky transfer fee up front could get us an absolute bargain.

Double his wages on an 18 month contract and he'll still cost us way less than anybody else being mentioned on here.

I used to watch Doyle for Chesterfield.

I think he's about at his level to be honest.

Yeah, he probably is, but if the idea is a cheap signing from either the reserves of a higher team, or a foreign U23, then the difference is negligible. At least Doyle is actually scoring goals which all the others touted about aren't.

I'm not suggesting the bloke you're referring to is comparable Keith, but Ricky Lambert drifted around the lower-leagues scoring goals until Southampton (I think?) took a punt on him, despite earlier being regarded as too one-paced to make the step-up. He ended up winning full England caps IIRC?
