Alfa Semedo

There was a bit of Bambi on Ice going on with Semedo last night but I'd leave him in the team and bring in Bostock for Watson instead.

Depending on his tactical plan, SL could easily bring in Sow for Silva too.

Semedo out more on fatigue than ability.

Bostock, Sow and Silva for the midfield three at Fulham, if I were to pick

Yeah. Some of these lads are clearly getting used to the rigours of this league. Gonna be a tough season for 'em.

Think that's a good shout. Semedo's more suited to come on & change the game if needed. Bostock won't last the full 90, but we've the CM options to change that so why not.

Think Semedo looked guilty of overplaying last night, maybe a knock on effect from his impressive performances so far.

Id keep him in, assuming he's up to it physically.

Agree. Think he thought it would be a continuation like v Brum. Never got to grips with Charltons intensity. Learning curve but I'd also keep him in

Sow Bostock and Semedo and we at least won’t look useless against Fulham.

He is like the Gil Dias in midfield. Harsh because he can at least be involved in contact but it is more you can see he has the physicality and ability when things are going good. It is all about consistency though. Will he ever get it ?

To get it he will need better spacial awareness that Sow and Yates have off the ball and then be able to link play better when you can't just drive forward.

Still think he is better from deeper driving forward to get us up the pitch. But right now his strengths will stand out sometimes and then in other games he will badly struggle which is what we have seen.

I agree mate, I think he should be played as 1 of a defensive midfield 2.

My chosen starting 2 would be Watson & Sow, with Bostock to get more up to speed & Semedo to add more attacking impotus as needed.

My daughter had an Alfa car. Looked good, sounded good, but just kept having niggling faults.

Missed perfection, but serviceable.

We need to sign Helmut Volkswagon for midfield. Mr reliable himself.

Less worried about the physicality, more worried about the lack of concentration in some of his five yard passes/lay-offs. He's not quite up to Championship speed yet in that he's not worked out you don't get the time and space in this league you perhaps might abroad.

Really poor off the ball, but get him in space and taking players on and he's dynamite. Some games suit him, some not.

If he is open to learning, and I am sure he is, Lamouchi is the right man for him.

Just give the lad some time.

He's looked very, very good at times and very, very bad at others.

Perhaps unsurprising given his age, experience and settling into a new league.

Doesn't seem to be any middle ground with Alfa, he's either very good or absolutely rubbish.

We'd have been better off playing the first half with 10 men against Preston.

Was Preston his first game against anti-football?

Maybe he didn't know what to expect and how to approach it.

Personally, I felt that killed Dias last season - although for him became more about when to defend and when not.

Weve got a good player in Semedo, looks technically proficient but synonomous with players way to eager to impress, he's too easily drawn to the ball & he's trying fancy stuff that aint coming off.

He's the same player that was top drawer against Birmingham.

Herein lies the problem with these types of signings. Most promotion sides don't spend months bedding in players.

Hopefully we can be an exception

Lamouchi hasn't got long to teach him which is the issue, otherwise he'll quickly be on the midfield scrapheap with Clough, Yacob, Bridcutt, Goncalves, Bouchalakis and co.

Which would be a huge shame as he's got big potential, and offers us something we don't really have. That direct running from midfield will be a godsend at times this season, if he can just learn the other sides of the game - because we're six games down and any analyst/scout will have his card marked as a player they can target and exploit.
