Other players will grab the headlines whilst MM quietly goes about his business. Almost perfect pass completion, high concentration, and defensively strong. Seems to have all the attributes to be one of the standout players in the Championship this season. It speaks volumes that he's already considered a key player.
Another shrewd signing by SP and his team.

Correct, nice to have a fit center half comfortable on the ball as well as being able to defend.

I wasn't massively impressed last night, though its the first time I've seen any of them.

Looked like he dived in a lot and was quite weak. Nice footballer but looked a bit lost in a physical battle last night. Hobbs was superb though. Maybe I'm being harsh I don't know.

He's a fantastic footballer and you can see that he came through the Chelsea ranks.

Reads the game brilliantly, comfortable with both feet, quick, strong and a leader.

Him and Hobbs will be the best CB pairing in the Champ this year.

I like what I've seen so far. But don't know if anyone mentioned it but wasn't impressed when he didn't attack the ball when it run free in the penalty box for their goal.
I'm sure the gaffer would had pointed that out to him though.

We have to remember that it was Mancienne and Hobbs first game at the centre, plus with the return of Lichaj and move of Fox to LB was pretty much a brand spanking new back 4. To say they had so many attacks and dominated yet we limited them to 1 with a new back 4 speaks volume, and I'm sure as they start to understand each other better we will see them Gel and become one of the best defences in the league!

This. Oozes quality that you don't see in a defender much in this league. He's got the composure and speed, he's matured a lot as a player since the U21 days, the German league has done a lot of favours for him. I think if he'd stayed here he wouldn't have developed as well. Probably loan move after loan move, played little football and hobbled from week to week.

Yeah think that's a little harsh. What he lacks in physical presence he certainly makes up with a great reading of Te game and is very quick and mobile. I think he's too good at this level to be honest.
