Does anyone remember League 1 Derby County? (STILL the worst team in history!)

I get the impression he's wealthy but not loaded enough to bankroll the club, maybe a bit like Doughty in that regard (most of ND's wealth was in DH and though he was rich, he rightly felt the club needed to run itself more than it did, he was a good owner in that respect).

He owns the ground so there's no real obstacles to that not becoming a problem for the club.

So there's just the whole point of the HMRC debt, debt to football creditors which is preventing them at present from leaving admin along with the fact they have no players and a transfer embargo restricting who they can bring in when they leave admin... and that there's a decent chance their other players will want to leave as well.

But I think he will be a good stop gap owner for them in the very least to try and steady the ship (they have basically nothing, so realistically the only way is improvement) - they do have a good chance once the debt is cleared off for being more financially stable than they've been in a long time.

It's probably good news for them if this does go through, but as you say, the beginning of the end of their problems, they will probably get relegated again but at least will be able to rebuild.
That's how I see it too. I reckon he'll sell up in a year when the debt is more manageable and the embargo is over, which will make the club a far more attractive proposition than it is currently.

Our average attendance during our three seasons down there was about 20k.

I suspect Derby's will be lower than that if they aren't challenging for the top 6 or giving away tickets.
So we did - just had a look.

Averaged 20k + for the 1st 2 seasons, but the year we actually went up we averaged 19k. I guess people had got fed up by then!

Large away followings dropped off as we became less of a ‘big day out’ for many teams.

Leeds were also down in League One during our final season there, so they were the new novelty for away fans in that league.

Simon Jordan is delusional, 28000 fans at Derby is his mantra

only way yer getting 28000 is if people are offered a season ticket as an alternative to a speed awareness course.

Or time off your life sentence if you go to games.

you’ll have a few going out of morbid curiosity then the crowds will drop quicker than CK can shout “you’re the man” to Nadal.
Apologies everyone, I’ve thought about it and I’d take the speed awareness course* on reflection,

This could be worthy of more sanctions then; an outside entity paying money directly into the club (which - presumably - is what th article intimates) rather than paying money to the administrators?

Oh dear.

Joking aside it would seriously f***ing help them if they actually didn't try to bend the rules everyone else follows for a second.
This is why they have absolutely no sympathy from the majority of fans from other clubs. There's bound to be more to come yet they're rotten to the core.
