Police At Derby

The police escort back to the station was a little over the top. It took over an hour to get us from the ground to the station platform. Was not impressed. Fair play to the Scottish copper though,, he was funny, and its rare for the police to have a sense of humour. He reminded me of that ref Collina!

Me and my mate had to ask a copper to go get the local bus back home. He told us to zip our coats up, keep our gobs shut and heads down lol. I was quite good in fact. I wanted to burst into song but i resisted temptation :D. I heard on a coppers radio there were 30 odd Direby fans waiting at a roundabout with brciks in hand for the Forest coaches. Anybody know anything about this?

Yes I was. In the top right hand corner. There were two very amusing Londoners infront of me who seemed very pleased to be near the sheep as they shouted abuse at them for the 90 mins... very entertaining  :)

I was just to the left of them on the row infront, they were quite funny actually and the D*rby lads seemed to keep rather quiet.

Yes, according to a friend of mine they threw aforementioned items at the coaches as they left.

I was also surprised by the low profile policing before, after and during the game on Sunday.
Does anyone else remember the 02/03 season trip to Shame Park when we were greeted by a row of fully equipped riot police lined up in front of the away end!

I think having Forest stewards in the away end might of helped to a certain degree to calm the situation.

I'm sure I saw from my lofty position in Cap 1 Corner against Cardiff that the stewards in the away section had Cardiff jackets on. Makes sense to me for away teams to bring their own stewards actually. Not sure if it's been going on for a while, but I've only noticed it recently.

I think it might only be for bigger/more risky matches though, which Cardiff clearly was as I was questioned about any trouble on the train as soon as I stepped off and the amount of riot fans made me think I'd got off in Iraq.

They also bring their own police.

When we played Charlton recently there were about 4 or 5 Met Police on show at Amici.

At the Cardiff match there were quite a few welsh police outside. It makes sense, they know any fans who shouldnt be there etc. I assume thats why we have them.

Yeah, they didn't seem to have any response to the insults being thrown their way, other than to repeat what the Londoners were saying  I've never understood how that means you've won the argument. :D

Yep, there were definitely Welsh stewards in with the Cardiff animals; which is probably why they weren't more harshly dealt with (which they deserved to be).

When one of their fans legged it into the BC Stand lower tier as their penalty went in he was retrieved in a very friendly fashion by one of the Welsh stewards.

Which is a pity, I was hoping he'd get some harsh treatment!

did any one see that mad man at the final whistle in the ground he was leaning over the top throthing at the mouth giving the right large one, i was hoping the steward who could not hold him back could of done us a favour and tipped him over into are end.

would be funny to see his arse fall out.

but out side i saw loads of police and dint see much else as where i was walking it was mixed fans!!

I was on Coach 2 and when we arrived, a few youngsters of about 13-14yrs old were on a grass bank to the left of the busses throwing stones etc, but as soon as a few Forest fans got off they ran away gesturing and shouting, Never saw anything other than a few hand gestures off folk coming away from the ground back to the A52, apart from a small kid throw a stick at the bus infront of us, one Derby fan even squirted his orange drink at our coach ....we all shat ourselves :)

I remember him, started off a "Nottingham, Nottingham, Nottingham . . ." :D

Everytime I saw him it reminded me of Jon Olav Hjelde.
