It was great to see Bomber on the CG pitch at h/t on Sunday looking fit and well.

A player like him in our midfield now would make a huge difference in my opinion, to the point that I'd guarantee that we wouldn't have switched-off as we did for Man City's first goal.

He's definitely in my top-5 of favourite Forest players of the last 67-years.

They are Cloughie, and also Bomber's leadership qualities and natural willingness to graft and do the ugly stuff. There was a reason that he was Cloughie's go-to man.
Although Clough’s first choice midfield in our Championship winning side was O’Neill,
Gemmill and McGovern.

It was, but Bomber was always there or thereabouts and still got plenty of game time in various roles that season. He was vital to our European Cup wins.

Also, Cloughie realised what a mistake it was to listen to Peter Taylor's advice to sell him to Sunderland at the time and got him back again as soon as he could. His influence then on the young players coming through like Hodge Davenport, Wigley, Fairclough et al was huge.

Absolutely,Otis-Ian Bowyer was undoubtedly a Forest stalwart.
He played a part in our UEFA Cup run to the semi-finals in 83/84 and featured in the memorable win in Glasgow against Celtic.

My first memory of him playing live was scoring twice v Man City on a Sunday (never heard of in those days) in the FA Cup.
A really good Man City team too. Duncan McKenzie was a class above that day.
I'm sure Bomber played left wing in that game ??
Bowyer did score twice that day-but McKenzie made the headlines.

You don’t get those kind of memories at school,Captain.
You certainly don't.
From the start of the 4th year (beginning of O levels), I would regularly walk away from school after registration, and go on my own nature walks in the woods, where I learnt how to identify plants, spot feathered birds, and have a ciggie without worrying about a teacher spotting the smoke or smelling the aroma about my person.

Yes Cloughie, and being at Celtic Park that night to witness it was a great experience, and especially sharing it with my eldest son.
I was at Parkhead that night Otis when Forest became the first side to win there in a European match. As for Bowyer he was a true hero of mine, would give an 8 out 10 performance in every position on the pitch, how we could do some players in our current side to show the same consistency. I'm sure he even went in goal once at Leicester.

He performed as an emergency 'keeper a couple of times Colin. One of the occasions that sticks in my memory was away at Oxford, when he ensured that we went away with a one-nil win.

I was very young at the time but remember him as 'super sub'. In those days you only had one on the bench and it didn't matter who got injured, he'd come on anywhere and do a good job.

I've got a photo that Bomber signed of him in goal and he told me it was at Leicester, he had gone in goal to replace Shilton and Ian said that he saved the penalty by McAllister only for it to be retaken and McAllister to score the retake. Question for the Eggheads. Why was Shilton replaced? Injured surely. I never knew of him being sent off

Bowyer replaced Steve Sutton in goal at Leicester in a 3-1 defeat in 1986.
