TalkSport is reporting that the Premier League has, by way of "a social media post", implied that Sheffield United's relegation is not yet official, pending the outcome of ours and Everton's points deduction appeal - clearly suggesting that further sanctions could just as easily be added if the appeal(s) fail.
Putting this out on the eve of our game is shameful:

"Following their defeat to Newcastle, Sheffield Utd are relegated pending Everton and Nott'm Forest's points-deduction appeals."

A clear indication that the PL did submit counter-appeals for added punishment. Fuckit, just get on with it and fuc.king do your worst......

Odd, as their communication and transparency are usually exemplary.

I don’t think they will, but if they do f*** us with a further points deduction we could just default the game against Burnley right? So they stay up at Luton’s expense. Let them deal with that shitshow.
I thought about 5 sendings off against cheating City. See how var and prem league deal with that shit show too😁

The absolute worst thing that can happen to us is relegation, there is no doubt about that.

Financially we would be knackerd, more than likely having to sell our best players at a lower value ( depending on their contracts) and be left with a team quite possibly unable to make the play offs.
I would prefer the Prem, taking the inevitable losses, but with a clear out of the excess players and bringing in a couple of improvements. 15th or 16th place is possible if we have no further points deductions next season.

As mentioned by some posters, who is to say that Luton get any more points, not with the way they played in their last 2 games and I think most teams are playing better than Wolves right now.

A win at Sheffield would make the table look much much better.

Stay in the Prem and build slowly, not breaking any PSR rules and we will do OK next season.

The Premier League is not exactly a great place to be when you’ve had our type of season. VAR is a big part of the problem. I also don’t like that the league is geared towards protecting the bigger teams - financial rules protect those who have already got the money and scrapping FA Cup replays is another nail in the football pyramid coffin.

Having said that, I don’t buy into the argument that the Championship will be better. People saying this are trying to soften the blow of relegation if it happens. The Championship is only good if you’re winning and getting promoted - promoted to the very league people don’t want to be in!

If you look at a team like Bournemouth (a team people often pour scorn on), they won’t be complaining about the PL because they’ve adopted a sensible approach since promotion compared to our haphazard style of management. Everton have coped with their points deduction and Wolves have done well against the backdrop of bad VAR decisions.

Ultimately, we don’t like the PL because we’re in a relegation battle and have a manager who I’d argue hasn’t sufficiently improved us since Cooper. The ownership is also questionable because of erratic decisions cumulating in a scatter gun transfer policy and over bloated squad.

For all our problems, we simply have to stay in this league - let’s hope it’s a party atmosphere at Turf Moor.

Yes, this is the main point I don't understand about the romantic view "we'd be better off in the Championship". Last time I checked, it's still a competitive sport, which means that, by definition, one aims for success. I may understand -although I disagree with- those wishing to jump start the club by relegation followed by promotion, but I cannot understand those reminiscing "the good ol' days" (in most cases an imaginary construct at odds with reality).

AEK Athens had been relegated to the third, non-professional, league because of debts a few years back. A friend of mine, a lifelong AEK fan, was quite happy to follow his club in shitty venues and watch shitty games, still boasts about it, and really had fun in that period. That doesn't make him less ecstatic that his club won the title last season and will probably win it again.

It's just a literal statement of the technical facts. Nothing to get excited about, means nothing.

So it probably wasn't factual at all.

I've never known a season like it.

Even when McClaren's clusterfukery was in full force, the fact that we didn't have any serious drama from either on-pitch or off-pitch officials made focusing on the task in hand so much easier for us fans, and I dare say for the players too.

Without a doubt the period between sacking Cooper and now has been the most hated half-season I've had since relegation to L1. It's f**king horrible.

Same here. I'm desperate to stay up, but if we do if will be more a sense of relief rather than celebration this time around. It's been absolutely dreadful since the turn of the year (on and off the pitch) and I'll be glad to see the back of this season.

Life is so unfair: he has good lucks, was great at football, and from the interviews I've seem him do he appears to be gifted with higher intelligence.
Then there is me: plug ugly, 2 left feet, and the intelligence of a duck.
Life's just not fair!
(At least I have Mrs S)
And to add to that, having met Jürgen at a VfB event, he is a thoroughly decent bloke. Always had time to chat.

It makes you sick, I tell you.
