Still only 28. I always thought he had a lot of ability but seems Bolton are trying to cut the wage bill. Any thoughts?

Solid if unspectacular purchase.

Rather we tried for Gaz Mac or Sinclair, even if they'd cost more.

If we're reducing the squad by a third the last thing we need is solid if unspectacular signings.

At his best he looks shit hot, but very rarely seen at his best. Avoid!

Agreed. Hence why I'd rather have the other two mentioned, but we could get worse than him.

McCleary?

We have enough injury prone players already!

Agreed, always see this guy as a bit of a flash in the pan who usually flatters to deceive. Unless he will hold the midfield, which he won't, I can't see the point in buying another midfielder that isn't an improvement on either Vaughan, Lansbury or Reid.

We need to unearth a McCleary/Bolasie type. Someone with real frightning pace and the ability to go past players (preferably with the ball) with ease. Not sure Eagles is one of those.

No wonder my post count..
Nope. He didn't give a shit during the last few months of his contract. That's why he didn't play.

He'd be a huge waste of money.

Always struck me as a bit of a show pony who flattered to deceive. I agree with the pace suggestion. Aside from Pato all our midfielders and forwards lack pace. I would like to see at least two players added too the squad who have pace and can stretch teams on the break. With our best defence in place (please god) we should be able to soak up pressure and then break out with pace.
