Brendan Moloney

McParland has said in todays EP that he would like to take Moloney on a permanent basis. This could get interesting. Does anybody know the length of his contract?

I doubt that we'd sell him. The lad has a decent chance of coming back and making a name for himself.

If we do let him go it will probably be for silly money. Seeing as Nott$ like to throw money about at the moment.

I'm pretty sure he's on a reasonably lengthy contract but can't see to lay my hands on when he last signed.

£5m should do it, though :)

Then again, he is behind a 19 year old in the pecking order. I wouldn't be suprised to see him go if the offer was in the best interests of the culb.

Moloney may feel that he wants to play first team football. Now that Davies has signed Gunter, that kind of opportunity might be limited. If Notts do get promoted, the chance to be first choice in League 1 might be preferable to sitting on the bench at Forest.

Gunter can play left back...

Really? Is he actually? I've only seem him twice, once for us and once against, is it possible that we're just 'missing' him, he's doing well at County and certainly had a not that fit Tyson in his pocket but it's possible we're looking at him with some of the ole tinted spectacles.

Billy Davies doesn't like youngsters, unless they've already established themselves at another club, so he can pay millions for them. Brendan will be sold, as will Heath and Thornhill.

I've always thought it, as do the County fans.

I suppose when they have Sol Campbell to compare him against we'll get a better mark of where he is.

A fellow Munster Supporters Club member who speaks with Brendan Moloney informed me that his contract finishes next summer. So is available to speak to other clubs in January for a Bosman Free transfer.

I'm extremely annoyed and angry over the treatment and attitude of these promising youth players by Billy Davies. Brendan Moloney, Joe Heath, Matt Thornhill, and Gareth McCleary burst into the first team last season, and looked promising players with the ability to easily play in the Championship. Having played a crucial role last season with Nottingham Forest, they demonstrated that with additional time, experience of first team football with the same side, and proficient youth coaching, the players could have cemented their place in the first team. Billy Davies instead has spent £1,750,000 on Chris Gunter when infact Brendan Moloney could have done sufficient job at this level. Furthermore the manager had the naivety to lend Brendan Moloney (Notts C), and Joe Heath (Lincoln) out for a six month loan, when the team desperately need cover for the left and right wing back defence. Currently the side is unbalanced and struggling to contain the opposition, and without a natural right back, our defence looks vulnerable from attacks from the wing.

I honestly believe the manager needs to look carefully at his youth development policy of scrapping the reserve side, and the idiotic decision of sacking John Pemberton to whom was instrumental in the encouragement and development of the players such as the Dawson brothers, Jermaine Jenas and Andy Reid. The club cannot continue to buy in players otherwise Nottingham Forest could face the repercussions in the future of financial insolvency (especially with old and new plans by UEFA and FA), and inability to attract the youth players with the potential. In truth I'm concerned that Billy Davies could put the club in a worse position, than what happened when Gary Megson left.

There'd be a compensatory fee for Moloney were he to leave though, given his age.

It would be peanuts, though.

Yes, being under 24 and a possible Bosman Ruling, the club would only get compensation for the time spent on his development, but this is normally pittance. What a waste!

Melony switches off during games, particularly when he have been on top.

I'd be sad to see him go, as I think he's a good prospect and think he'll be a good player in the future. I can't see him getting past Gunter though.

It's probably best for him that he moves on.

Is there more to this other than McParland saying he'd like to buy him?

We wanted to buy Osborne off Villa after a successful loan spell, I don't see him wearing the garibaldi.
