He had played for West Ham for a year (after leaving Everton) before signing for Villa (Allegedly because he thought Birmingham was near Bolton). After his Mrs didn't settle in the area, he went back to Everton that same pre-season.

Oh Lordy - I feel dizzy ... I mean just how good can we get if we can knit all these players together. I did smile at the huge optimism of many a few weeks ago when the signings started and people were saying we're gonna be top 8 - but honestly the ingredients are there now. This guys can be a proper PL star.
