The Emirates a stones throw away from Highbury, and Spurs new ground is next door to WHL, so he's clearly not referring to them as out of town stadiums.

Wigan and Bolton, yes, dreadful shitholes with a terrible matchday experience, exactly what we shouldn't be doing, for obvious reasons.
Bolton's old ground had a bloody Supermarket as part of the stand.

If clubs are seen as ideal vehicles for urban regeneration, then why do clubs keep getting moved out of town?

No offence, but Forest being the exception to the rule just feels like wishful thinking to me. It's much more likely that we'll end up with the same type of ground that most other clubs get if we move.
As has been pointed out, there are numerous examples of clubs relocating relatively close to previous grounds, irrespective of whether or not the design is aesthetically acceptable, and whether or not Greggs and/or a Starbucks have opened outlets nearby.

Please be assured that I'm not in anyway offended mate, but I'm interested in knowing why you're so adamant that the Eastcroft/Cattle Market area is not a viable/suitable option compared with out-of-town?

I recall Chairman Tom's 'announcement about announcements' just before Xmas (2023). I wonder what has happened regarding a new training centre. I have no doubt that it is urgently needed, and the announcement was to be, I think, about the site acquisition.
I was reliably informed a couple of years ago that Ruddington golf course had been a desired site but the owners would not sell. Land at Fairham has also been looked at, according to the same source.
I'd be happy for an update, even if it's along the lines of "we are proceeding with the necessary legals and we'll confirm details once that is done".

Sheffield Utd have apparently just committed to a new site at Dore, Leicester have built a fine facility just down the Fosse, I was at Leeds' Thorpe Arch recently, and there are many more so once again we might be getting further behind the curve.

The media team at Forest are not helping to lift the mood by effectively doing nothing. Wake up please.

Pretty much every new ground seems to be far away from civilisation in my experience, and completely devoid of character. The only exceptions I can think of are Arsenal and Spurs, who are very different cases to ourselves for obvious reasons.

I simply think if any location close to the city centre or where we currently play was a possibility, it would have happened long before now. The people at the club (both presently and previously down the years) and other stakeholders would have considered it long before anyone on here ever thought of it if it were ever a possibility.

Councils and residents tend not to want football clubs near their towns, and will put as many hurdles in the way to prevent it happening.

If Forest ever do move, I expect it will be out of town as it is much cheaper to do so and there are far less hurdles to throw a spanner in the works. At the end of the day, we aren't going to be spending anything close to what Spurs and Everton have spent on their new grounds and generally in life you get what you pay for.

The NORMID store ruined a famous old ground.
Their new stadium is in the middle of nowhere and has taken the club out of the community-I
hope that never happens to Forest.
I don't think anyone would advocate moving our ground that far away from the city centre, (Boltons too far), but some of the options put us nearer the Nottingham City Centre and some people would still be against it.

We don't need a bigger ground even now, folk will fall out of love with the prem even if we stay in it and should we drop back to the championship the glory supporters will fade away.

We just need a better one.

I read that the Council have a load of farms that they are wanting to sell. I wonder if we could be looking to buy one of them to build the training ground on.

I'm not going to try and argue with that piece Ash, obviously, but my informed understanding from info I was privy to at the time is that Nottingham City Council had also offered Eastside as a serious proposal during the course of compiling Nottingham's bid.
It was going to be a ground share with County, that came from a PA to one of the owners at the time.

Exactly,Barry-the initial proposal of a redeveloped 38,000 City Ground is about right for Forest.
I really can’t believe it’s not deliverable with some effort and goodwill on all sides.
I agree that the glory seekers will soon fade away.

Exactly

All that needs doing is replacing the Peter Taylor stand with a bit of a capacity increase in the process

So just implementing the current plans, basically

This is the simple truth and there is no way the authorities are going to allow a new stadium anywhere near the city centre or eastside/cattle market because the whole of the eastside is being redeveloped.
It will eventually be announced it's somewhere near Gotham near the motorway and the tram stop.
West bridgford and the eastside development is not planned to be for the football riff raff

There’s truth here but Forest can’t think small anymore. Can you imagine the audacity of the club if we actually stay in the prem, or return to the prem? People would say ffs Forest why didn’t you act? It’s exactly the reason why Forest should build larger capacity. Years to come your kids will be supporting clubs they have any chance in watching, or worse manure of Scouse Nottingham has a large area youthful population, now’s the time to go for it. If Forest dont risk it we’ll be left behind

Increasing the current capacity to 38,000 is enough-the interest is dropping off already.

It was Wes. Some of the proceeds from the sale of both sites would have made up a portion of the city council's contribution to the project.
Something else that puts me off moving (the 2 clubs should have their own identities).
I certainly don't want us to share with that shower, but excuse me if I don't quite share your "Hands Across The Trent" sentiment Cloughie. The day that any risk to the Saddies' identity concerns me my kids have already had my permission to have me put down.

Yep got to admit I’m finding going to games at the minute tedious compared to last season. It’s all bit boring and predictable and I don’t just mean Forest… the opposition the refs var all shit

My comment was really based on not wishing to share a stadium with Notts,Otis.
To be honest, even if County found a genuine Munto owner to carry them to glory I’d still
want Forest have their own identity and ground (even if we emulated our neighbours and went into non-league for a while).
I don’t particularly trust the current ownership, various councils and maybe a few on here who
are using this debate to further their own agenda.

Prefer to stay on the same site if at all possible but we need to do far more than just replace the PT stand - both for quality of facilities and capacity.

I think everything except the Trent End needs demolishing and a total rebuild of 3 stands doing, with more concourse space, better facilities and boxes all the way round.
