I agree that is why I think 40 thousand is enough for forest.
Nottingham is not a big city and I think we would do well with attendances of 30 thousand.
I agree we should have ambitions but as I say it helps to be realistic.
We are not a 50 thousand crowd type of club yet and are far from it.
Man City aren’t a 50 Thousand crowd type of club and they win every week and have done for years.

I’ve thought for years we are at best a 40 thousand attendance club, maybe if we somehow turn into the best club in the entire world we can discuss potentially needing more than 40K seats.

The best solution is to knock the City Ground down and rebuild on the same plot of land, unfortunately you’d probably be looking at £700M and I’m not sure EM fancies spending the majority of his worth on a new stadium.
Marinakis’ net worth is estimated at £2.5 billion. So whose it’s true that £700m
Would be a good chunk of that, it’s incorrect to say it would be the ‘majority’.

I remember man city's attendances in the 3rd division a few years ago.
I would say they are a 50 thousand crowd type to be fair

Maybe we could have a whip round to help him out, would probably cover about £162 of the costs.
There's a big modern stadium that is well underutilised at the other of the A52...
But I'd rather nail my scrotum to the floor than pay to go in there.
Anyroad, it doesn't have sufficient capacity for our needs

Why would it be £700m Everton's is £500m, It's built on a filled in dock and seats 52k, they got funding for this. We should be able to build something in the region of £200m-£300m for a 40k stadium. (based on fag packet maths)

Last time I checked he was worth just over £1B. He’s done well for himself, it’s still a big amount of cash to spend though.

I was under the impression Everton initially planned for it to be around £500m but it cost more due to costs of everything increasing in the past few years.

Regardless I can’t see us demolishing the CG to build something brand new anyway even if I do think that’s the best way forward.

To slightly misquote Maggie Thatcher,

"the problem with designing new football stadia is that eventually you run out of other people's money"

If it was 500 before lockdowns it will be at least 750 now

Yet they have continuously struggled to fill their stadium over their most glorious period.

What has L1 got to do with anything?

The point was being made about the potential to be a club with 50 thousand fans.
League 1 was mentioned because man city were getting crowds around 40 thousand in the old 3rd division (league 1). Therefore it is reasonable to suggest they could manage to have 50 thousand supporters in the premier league

Trying to determine a Greek bloke's net worth is near on impossible, nevermind a Greek bloke that is involved in shipping where those companies are typically attracted to a random island somewhere.

It was estimated he was worth £700m when he first took us over, and I would assume that has gone up significantly since that time simply due to the deals he has done since he's been here.

God knows what he's actually worth, if you believe everything you read on the Derby forum it'll be about £105 billion stored in one of his container ships in notes.

I agree and the same with new stadium cost estimates.
The most accurate way to guess forests costs seems to be a mix of how much spurs are reported to have paid and comparing that with evertons estimated cost for theres and then mixing them together and knocking a bit off because ours will be a bit smaller.

Main Road only held 35k and despite very good attendances they averaged around 25k in their season in the 3rd tier. Over 3 seasons Forest averaged 20k.

Man City have a solid hardcore element to the fanbase, like many do, including Forest, but it perhaps not as good as you may think. They had 10k empty seats for their first 5 seasons at the Etihad.

Having said that I think 40k would be perfect for us, using Man City is probably a bad example as a comparison though.

If money was no object, if you could picture what the very best for Nottingham Forest would be.. what would it look it ?
1. Same location
2. Complete rebuild on the same footprint
3. 40-45k stadium
4. World class facilities

It’s feasible.
That would be good but how long does the rebuild take and where do we play until the new ground is ready?

One less gobshite...
The EPL has certain stadium conditions and facilities. If we had to play elsewhere, surely wed have to upgrade that stadium to be EPL compliant?

I agree. They're also another example of how a shiny new stadium attracts another 10k fans.
