That‘s more like it.

Now sort that neglected Pitch Diner area out, Forest.

You’re pissing away potential revenue there.

I was in there for a function last year, I believe it used for those that sit in the centre section of the TE on match days as the access to there is in place. No sure how else it can be utilised as its locations is quite restrictive.

See, this I don’t understand?

In terms of access and parking, it is really no more restricted than the Riverside Bar, for example?

Forest could - on non-match days - let folk park behind the BC stand If they wanted to, or there’s a bus stop across the road and the other side of Trent Bridge.

It just seems to me, there’s a venue there that could be bringing in money when the ground isn’t being used, and instead, it’s just sitting there doing nothing.

I guess the restriction is less about physical access and that ultimately whatever you do to it it's going to be sports themed, and outside of match day when you've got 30k sports fans descending on a small area, there's not really a captive audience to offer to.

I've thought we should open up on Friday night football games, get the game on the TV and do cheap eats, but then I don't think I'd travel from Chilwell for that when there's about 20 pubs on the way which are offering the same, some of which are really good boozers.

What else can The Pitch really be?

Why not make it a really top class sports bar and smokehouse?

That theme works both on matchdays and non-matchdays.

Make it the place in Nottingham to watch sport with decent grub in a buzzing but mature atmosphere. Being able to enjoy a big international games for example, without the threat of getting covered in ale when everyone tosses their pints in the air.

Southbank has gone some way to doing that in the city but there is definitely space for another decent sports venue.

The problem is the location, are people going to want to be walking along the bank of the Trent alone in the dark?

I've always thought it's at the wrong end of the ground, but then, if it was at the Bridgford End, it wouldn't be so well sited.

Plus, I don't think it looks out onto the river? Must admit I've only been in it a couple of times both at night games and the lure of the football stopped me from looking towards the river.

If the thought of making it a themed bar for everyday use had occurred when the stand was built, it would have been designed quite differently.

Yeah, you can see out onto the river.

The other thing to consider is it's quite a bit space. They could even divide it up into different venues if they wish. I hope with the new man at the top, these things are at least being considered.

The Pitch was initially accessable through the week when it originally opened Richard. However, like other aspects of the club's (albeit limited) potentential revenue opportunities, it was too much effort for Mark Arthur to continue to pursue after he took control of affairs following Nigel Doughty's acquisition of NFFC, and of course, that continued under the al-Hasawis, certainly as far as The Pitch is concerned. My guess is that it could possibly be accessed via the Taylor Stand when the new development is completed?

This is my understanding as well. The Heatherwick plans to refurb the ruins are so frustrating, and we can only hope for a complete demolition. As the council finances are a state they're applying for government hand outs to continue the work on the remaining east side shell, which they've missed out on twice. The whole BM saga is staggeringly incompetent, and there can't be many other UK examples of such a terribly managed prominent inner city location.
I'm not sure if you're criticising the City Council Davie, but if you are I fail to see what else it could have done other than try to make the best of a totally-shit situation it inherited from a failed, shamefully-incompetent private company, Intu?

The only alternative would have been to fence-off and secure the area just as Intu left it, as an embarrassing eyesore in comparison with a WW2 bomb-site for who knows how many years to come?

At least the council has a clear vision for it, even if it's one that doesn't please those who would prefer another shopping mall on the site.

I can see no reason why that particular section of cladding could not be removed as its not structural. A free standing structure could then be inserted into the corner. That would give a fair few more seats.

Whilst that corner is begging to be filled in I dont think a free standing structure is feasable is it? As in no footings?

f*** me lets make a scaffold stand we can all be proud of like Gillingham 🤣

I didn't mean free standing in that sense but free standing as in not a part structurally of either stand at each end of it.

How much realistically can it generate on non match days? It has the same chance as any other pub with the disadvantages of its relative isolation from the rest of the area around it. The club could be thinking big hits on match days though.

It was just my observation of a period when the hospitality sector was in a far better shape than it presently is. I certainly wouldn't expect the club to relaunch it as a venue beyond matchdays at the moment.

Ah, sorry, didnt read properly.

Would look mint if they could tie them in though, similar heights too. Ive often thought about it but after 217 years of PT stand shite I got bored of even considering it.

I agree with this totally. Its just not the right location for every day use.

Once we bomb the boat club out I imagine there will be more of a vibe around the ground, currently totally pointless in my opinion.

Just a thought. Why not offer the boat club a scheme where we incorporate the old Brittania Boat house into our new scheme? I'm thinking along the lines of a total refurbishment for our hospitality with a boat house underneath for their use. Connect it to our new stand rather like Fulhams Craven Cottage. I think it could look pretty good whilst perhaps solving the current impasse.

I thought that the Brit land is required for access.

I'm still here Crewton
I see Wolves filled in a corner and increased the capacity by 500.
Looks a bit crap though

On the subject of extra seats, how many did we lose to the TV Screen in the Lower Bridgford? Suspect it's only a couple dozen or so but everything helps.

Feels like those screens must be due replacement fairly soon, and with newer technology being much lighter and easier to mount we could move it to the roof and reclaim the space for seating.
