Indeed. Proven quality Premier League players in their prime years will always come at a premium cost.

Even then, I don't think £20-25m for a proven Premier League quality keeper who is an England international and has his best years ahead of him is that bad of a deal. If we don't pay it, I bet someone else would be more than willing to do so.

I agree - additionally we've seen this season how having too many players trying to settle in can hamper a side from trying to get results. The benefit of having a player who is already integrated into the dressing room should not be taken for granted.
I agree, that integration and knowing what you're getting is probably worth another £5M

UNOFFICIAL Facebook page says De Gea has signed contract extension, with Hendo sold to Forest for £25m plus £5m of target linked add-ons.

Henderson will be a very solid signing. Overpriced, probably in my opinion. But he’s better than many others. Stability at keeper is critical. Get it done and move on.

Utd might actually trying to bomb De Gea off, 375k per week trigger extension. They are seriously looking at Raya and Costa.

Hope the club have some decent alternatives up their sleeve that we don't yet know about, just in case Man United do f*** us about. To say that the other keepers we've been linked with are incredibly uninspiring is putting it mildly.

In that case henderson's still leaving. I wouldn't have thought they'd have bothering negotiating a lower contract if they weren't going to follow through. He was already on 375k and agreed to take a cut.

If we're dicking around to try to save money we shouldn't have spunked £15m on Chris Wood.

There's no rush... No point joinging the discussion looking desperate as Man U will know they can fleece us. We go in knowing that Hendo wants to join, they want and need to sell, so we have the upper hand.

Exactly. He’ll be England’s number 1 goalkeeper in a couple of years wherever he ends up and his value will be even higher.

For a large part of the season he was conceding mountains of goals but still getting lauded with plaudits which is a mark of how genuinely talented he is. He ticks every box and has the added bonus of not needing to be persuaded to come here - he wants to come here.

If we don’t sign him it will only end up another Shorey moment.

Utd in for short armed Pickford now ? 30mil by the looks of it. Wonder if Da Gea is going to sell out to the Saudis.

Is Henderson is better than Pickford? It's close but he certainly will be in a year or two.

Any concern that Utd might try to sweeten the desl for Pickford by offering Hendo in part exchange?

I think Henderson would choose us over them in a straight choice but it might be largely outside his hands if Utd favour a deal elsewhere.

Man Ure are going to try and stitch us up... you just know it.
I'd prefer us to have Hendo, but I think dealing with Man Ure is like dealing with a cornered rat, so I think the best course of action is to identify another top notch keeper, and deal with an honest broker of a club... one which will include the interests of the player as well as getting a good deal for the club.
ManUre just want the best deal for themselves every time... and negotiating with such a counter-party in my experience is irtually impossible, so best avoided.
Spot on here. They’re renowned for looking after manure over the player, they’re not in the best financial shape either at the moment so every million matters. Forest can’t continue, move on quickly

Most likely not; the reason Everton want to sell is to raise funds. Including Henderson in any deal would eat into a huge chunk of that fee.

In general for all the impatience it will probably get sorted before pre-season.

Seems like all parties involved want their GK situation sorted ASAP.

I reckon it'll all be done by the end of the month, one way or another.

I always say this.

If you're an outfield player, you do not want to be thinking that if you make a mistake, you're looking back at a scarecrow in goal.

You want to have confidence that your goalkeeper is more or less your main man and biggest personality too. Every good team has a good goalkeeper and he enables the outfield players to play their natural game without stress.

Henderson gives you that vibe. Same as Navas did when he came in to replace him.

Which is why I'm surprised so many people seem happy with Hovarth as 2nd choice.
