Neco Shay Williams

Cooper clearly sees more potential in Neco than many of you lot.

If he saw what you lot see, he'd never make the bench ahead Toffolo.

We've also see him used left midfield and right midfield when we've had midfielders on the bench who could play there.

Must say something.
We can debate all we want, in the end Cooper is the one that always seems to be right.

Something akin to, „We talk about it for twenty minutes then decide I was right“, as a famous former Manager once said.

Played well?

All hustle and bustle, no quality. Thought he was supposed to be able to cross the ball as well? Over hit floated cross seem to be his forté.

However much he cost, it was too much, at the moment. Looks out of his depth at times, which is a major disappointment.

Get well soon, Serge. Please.

Honestly he doesn't deserve to play next week, his mentality was awful and so was his performance.

I'd genuinely rather someone else filled in there because they simply won't be any worse.

I'd be looking to shift him in the summer.
What do you mean by his mentality?

Funnily enough, Coops has just used that same word and said "there will be a proper grown up conversation to be had about some of the mentality".

What I mean by it is that he's not disciplined, lacks conviction and at some stages looked like he'd given up.
Fair enough. I dont think he is up to the standard we need at this point but ive never thought his attitude was wrong.

Massively out of his depth and cost us an absolute fortune.

We’ve basically spent 17M for Brennan to hang out with his mate after training.
At this point in time, you are not wrong.

I really don‘t see anything from him that justifies the fee. He has looked at times, completely out of his depth.

Cooper believes he can develop him into a solid top level player, I understand peoples frustration but Coops is infinitely more experienced at identifying ability and potential in young players than any of us (its his bread and butter after all)

I'll stick with Coops judgement and ability as a coach on this one, if Cooper is still on board with us for a couple of seasons I fully expect to see Williams develop into a tidy capable EPL player. Will it be at RB? Not sure

18m is a feckin lot of money for potential that needs to be developed

If you call being at fault for 4 goals playing well then yeah ok spiderman ;)
Well having watched back the first two (I can't stomach the rest) that's just not true. The worldy third goal was one you have to put down to being decent, and while I remember the cross coming from his side for the fourth at the time I was berating Toffs for letting Antonio get the leap on him, probably unfairly. Perhaps you were taking the piss?

Fwiw I think Williams is rash, very questionable positionally and makes poor decisions going forward. However, I thought he handled Benrahma well today when 1v1 and that both full backs were decent up to the change in shape. I'd question that decision ahead of Williams impact on the game.

Worth every penny of it can keep him here for the lengths of both players contracts - I'm all for it, even more so when factoring in the MGW/BJ bromance.

Our form started improving when we signed a competent right back, now we’ve lost him to injury it shouldn’t be a massive shock we looked crap.

The full back position might be the most important in modern football hence us signing Aurier and Lodi who have both played at the highest level.

Well let’s hope we stay up first as neither Morgan or Brennan will still be here in 12 months time if we go down.
I don't doubt it.

Right now Williams is questionable at this level, but with Aurier injured he's what we have so I'm right behind him. Cooper has shown faith in him recently and I hope that will be repaid by the player.

Thought he did well today up until whatever minute the goals went in. After that I probably can't say since it was an angry haze. My hope is that Williams seizes this opportunity, though admittedly a greater hope is that the 3-4 weeks Cooper said Serge was out for isn't accurate - he's clearly our better right back.

I think I'm the only one but I thought Neco had a decent game.....up until we conceded. Not into scapegoats personally.

I think this one lays with the manager myself.

I don’t think anyone is, but he just seems so error prone, not sue how much cooper can control that short of just not playing him

Lodi on the right and Colback on the left better perhaps??
