Mull of Kintyre

The music should go;

10 minutes to go - Beautiful Day by U2. We don't play this anymore, but I miss the YOUUUUU REEEEEEDDSSSS when it goes quiet.
5 minutes to go - Dance of the Knights by Prokofiev.
2 minutes to go - Born Slippy by Underworld.
Teams coming out - This one is a matter of opinion. Some might like the Robin Hood theme, but personally I think Welcome to the Jungle is pretty good.
Teams going from the lineup to running towards the Trent End - Insomnia by Faithless.
Teams kicking off - Mull of Kintyre.

Start of 2nd half - "lost that loving feeling".

Seen lots of online nonsense about Paul McCartney promising to sing MOK on a match day at the world famous City Ground should we ever be promoted back to the Prem.

No thanks “Macca”. I don’t care if it is your song, we don’t need you and the Jurgen Klopp Orchestra scousing up our atmosphere

If Edwin Starr wants digging up or Paper Lace, Jive Bunny, Stereo MCs or (preferably) KWS are available to play a live cover then we’ll think about it but we don’t need a 90 year old Beatle to get the party started

Being as he wrote the bloody song that we have adopted as our anthem I feel it would be an honour to have him come and sing it “live” for us before a match ( and hopefully soon, as he ain’t getting any younger)

He played his first live gig with his band “Wings” at Nottingham University so I think there is every chance that he will at least come to witness it like Bill Medley did for “Lost that loving feeling” - and he didn’t even write that one!

Happy 80th Birthday Paul McCartney

Personally, I think it's hugely unlikely to happen unless the club pays through the nose.

He has a very tight technical rider, which is quite costly. When he played the Liverpool Philharmonic Pub for the James Corden karoke thing, his bill was huge.

For a 3 minute sing a long, it will just be far beyond economical.

It would be easier to get one of those dodgy knock off Beatles tribute acts, like the Bootleg Beatles or Oasis

To be fair, the Bootleg Beatles are pretty good.

Unfortunately for Forest, Mull of Kintyre was a Wings number, and I am not aware of any Wings tribute bands?

There's a really good "Elbow" tribute band, called "Arse".

This is a non-starter for me- he'll want to sing the proper Mull of Kintyre - how can he do our bastardised version?

I'd be nice to see him turn-up and listen when we play Liverpool at home - but I think we should sing the whole of the Forest version more often - there's some great lines in there (new squad of players for us to inspire!!) and its especially apt now we are going back to the grounds mentioned (albeit we need to replace Maine Road - Etihad doesn't scan and we shouldn't use sponsor names I don't think)/

City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground

Far have I travelled and much have I seen
Goodison, Anfield are places I've been
Maine Road, Old Trafford still echo to the sound
Of the boys in the red from the City Ground

City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground

Passing the leather like Clougie's great men
Please take us back to the days I knew then
Games when we sang in the Nottingham choir
When we thrashed the sheep from Derbyshire

City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground

Smiles in the sunshine, Football like champagne
Still take me back to where my memories remain
Flickering embers growing higher and higher
And a new squad of players for us to inspire

City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire is always to be here
Oh City Ground

Has he singed yet?
He'll also sing it at the regular speed too, rather than the super speedy disco version we seem to sing at.

I’d like to see Paul McCartney at the WFCG if only for a bit of extra hype and media coverage but when it comes to the singing part, leave it to the experts. We will do it our way.

Well one proposal could be...extra surcharge on that matchday to pay for it....but all proceeds go to a charitable cause. NFFC community trust should be onto this, they do great work

More often? Can say I've ever heard us sing the full chorus-verse-chorus ever inside stadium.
But I echo your thoughts, been wanting us to do that for ages. Its just over too fast within seconds.... (said the actress to the Bishop)

I'm sure I remember singing it in the dim and distant - which of course it must be ... given the past 23 years

I can only remember the full version being sung at away games back in the day.

We used to sing it in the 80s even at home but only the 'far have I travelled' verse sandwiched in between two choruses... the rest is a more modern composition that's never been sung afaik

Thank you - I thought my memory was playing tricks but I certainly sang the "far have I travelled" bit
