I guess that depends on what we achieve during his time with us (although any benefits, such as avoiding relegation (and beyond), would be spread amongst him and his squad mates (and probably not equally) during the length of his stay...)

So quite how we're supposed to quantify any players worth, I'm not sure. I think, for me, a fair deal in this case, given Villa still see his potential, would involve a relatively modest fee, but with a whole heap of add-ons based on what he could achieve.
That is such a sensible, real world solution to the issue, CR.
So, it will never happen in Football's Premier La-La Land

Obviously, whatever we’re prepared to pay for Keinan will depend on how much Cooper & Murphy value his importance to the squad, in terms of how Steve intends to approach the PL.

There will be plenty of occasions when we only see a small percentage of the ball, and so having an outlet like KD, who can make it stick up top, will be priceless in my opinion. He’s also ably demonstrated his ability to bring others into the play and to finish chances. The price you put on that, also given his age and positive character, I wouldn’t even like to guess, although I hope it’s one we’re able and prepared to meet.

Nottingham's dirty secret
He was fantastic for us but hasn't done it at the top level, has had half a decent season in the Championship (without exactly scoring for fun) and is 24.

I think he's worth way more to a team than his goals alone and improved us no end but can't see how Villa could value him above £8m tops.

Damn good points there Otis

I think £15m is about right. Partly because he’s worth that, and in particular because of the disruption to our morale and way of playing if he doesn’t come back. The sooner we sign him up the better for me.
He's worth that if he adds goals to his game.

Until he does, he's worth no more than 10. Between 6-8 is probably about right.

Seems we made an offer for 20 year old PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo but he turned us down. Scored 12 in 34 on loan to Lens last season:

After a sucessful two seasons in the north of France – 8 and 13 goals respectively – the 20-year-old forward has indicated he wants to fight for his place in the capital

I'm sure he will stick to that

They already got a great deal for Matty Cash in hindsight, you'd think they'd give us a discount for Keinan. :ROFLMAO:
Personally, he was great for the Championship but reality is, we need a better striker to start in the Premierleague than Davis and he's not going to want to play second fiddle.

I think he'd kill it at Watford. Be interesting to see if they'd be willing to sell Dennis if they got Davis.

We'll make a lot of bids that will be turned down.

Every club knows we've just won the lottery and lots of players will hold out for more established clubs. Gone are the days that players would choose WBA or Sheffield United over us (for now). Unfortunately, these more 'attractive' options have been replaced by Leeds, Southampton, Crystal Palace and the like.

Our best bet is to look at the hidden gems and best players in the market we know best that Cooper believes can make the step up.

Wouldn't be so sure. Davis' key attributes are power and pace. They'll scare top flight defenders just as much as championship defenders. Only have to see Antonio for that

The (post Hughton) team last season was a similar standard to Bournemouth and Fulham, and would have had a decent chance of staying up in the Prem.

Objective number 1 should be to keep those exact same players.

Objective 2 should be to add depth with some top-end championship players and one or two from the Prem if possible.

Do that and worst case we should be too good for the Championship in 23/24

I think the only question marks are over his price tag, what he offers in terms of ability spoke for its self over the few months we had him

The problem is the price tag, if Villa are holding out for £15m then it's absolutely unreasonable and they're essentially damaging the lads career progression because nobody will pay that. At 24 he needs to find a club where he can settle down and get regular first team football. We gave him a taste of that and he flourished, became a bit of a fan favourite too

Realistically had we not took him on loan Villa would be happy to offload him this summer for a couple of million. If we're willing to pay £8m for him it's still probably 3x more than they previously valued him

Up to the Wembley match I would have agreed totally about Davis joining the reds but in my opinion he didn’t turn up. If we can get him for 8 million then take the risk.

£15m for a striker with his goal (and injury) record is absolute insanity. I would actually lose a bit of faith in our recruitment team if we were to pay that.

I’d look past Davis. He was decent for us but I don’t think I’ve seen him lift his legs much more than a few inches off the ground. Looks strong but immobile.

He has pace and power and would no doubt be a handful for PL defenders. However realistically we'll be feeding off scraps in some games and need someone to put away a rare chance or half chance even.

Most sides that get relegated do so because they don't have enough goals in them.

If we go through next season with Davis as our main forward then we're coming straight back down IMO.

We scored and they didn't, I don't look back at that game in isolation and say he didn't do much.

His contribution since he was signed was immense.

I'd say he's worth more to a Championship team than Premier League one because he's shown what he can do at that level but so far he's been ineffective at the higher level.

And as non goal scoring forwards aren't at a premium I reckon £5m is top end for him and I'd hope a bit less. I'm sure we've worked out a value we think he's worth and won't go beyond it.
But we might have to drag it out to get him for what we think he's worth.
