What you're quite rightly highlighting can be summed up in 3 words....lack of fluidity. The problem is Maxi, we see our team as a defensive and attacking unit. The whole split into two mutually exclusive parts. When we play like that, especially with our midfield, we create a huge chasm between the defence plus Yates and the attacking 'unit' of four. The chasm is where the opposition like to play!!
I'd like to see us play as a team.. we attack together and get players behind the ball when we don't have it. The centre backs should press higher and midfield need to use the pitch. I really hope Cooper sorts out the turgid football we play in our own half where (normally) Yates gets the ball from one CB gives to the other then to FB then to CB until one of them plays a chipped ball forward that comes straight back at us.
I cannot remember the last time we had a period of sustained pressure in the opposition's half

Grant a man the opportunity to be both verbose and profligate with words will you, old boy??...What you're quite rightly highlighting can be summed up in 3 words....lack of fluidity.
For the reasons you mentioned in the first paragraph, we have very little competency in linking defence to midfield and midfield to attack. It's not fluid.
The question for me is, is that a system failure or one of the players? A question I'm sure that we'll see answered after a month or so after Cooper gets hold of them.

Nothing wrong with your use of words and it provided the perfect example to lack of fluidity as some people don't always understand what that means in a football sense.Grant a man the opportunity to be both verbose and profligate with words will you, old boy??...

It's going to take some time to implement that style too from the complete opposite of dropping off holding our shape. It could take a couple of months to get it right. We could still be a way off picking up some results especially consistently.

All that proves is don’t believe everything you read on Wikipedia!

Wilder said that he would have been interested in talking to the club. I think we may regret not doing so
Probably over thinking this but we're playing higher up the pitch already.Yup, rather than having Yates sit back and Garner playing from deep, why isn't Yates allowed to get forward late into the box which he is actually good at? Garner should be making passes and then following them up the pitch and grabbing the odd goal.
It's a bit of a risk/reward situation. You see how teams like Cardiff get numbers into the box and score goals by players getting up in support. We don't score enough, or any, of these 'ugly' goals. You cna't sit back ALL the time and expect outnumbered attackers to do the business.
Yeah sure, but they are direct quotes from Cooper pretty much stating what you asked for.
That was from his time coaching some of the best young players in the world, so he may have had to adapt a little when he was at Swansea, but managed to do so and still deliver two top 6 finishes.
I think the football will be better unde Cooper simply because we will play higher up the pitch, full-backs will push on more and we will be more proactive off the ball. That should see us get more of the ball in better positions and spend less time defending deep.
Current players will look much better as a result I reckon.

Wilders agent doing absolute overtime to try and get him the gig
He does play similar solid tactics to Hughton, but I've noticed when Cooper was at Swansea that when they did attack on the break, they threw bodies into the box. They always looked hugely dangerous.
I've been watching a few games of Cooper's from last season and with a lot of their goals, 7 Swansea players are in and around the box.
We're looking more at a Lamouchi style again if we appoint Cooper.
Who needs a manager? In the immortals words of the Sex Pistols:
Anarchy in the City Ground.
So my only question after that is how similar is Cooper's style to what we saw today?
