I reckon we will sell further weakening our team one week before the season opener. If he had racked up a few seasons for us like Cash I wouldn’t moan but selling him before he gets a sniff at Forest will piss me off.

God help us if we don’t get some quality in this team soon, I also hope I’m massively wrong in my opinion ok Carvalho ‘cause he’s more or less guaranteed to start games if Brennan leaves.

I can’t edit me post - to add, Man City value the lad they had at Lincoln last year at 10M, Brennan was better than him at the same level, so, our valuation should be nearer 10 IMO.

When viewed in context Id say that’s pretty inflammatory. The context being the comments about Forest not being a good environment and not rating Hoots (paraphrased)

Anyway no point getting into an argument about mist of this crap-what we need is BJ to play well for us and everything else looks after itself….

When I saw what DJ had said last season, and remember he's a father first, I couldn't disagree with what he said. He didn't slag off Brazil or the academy but a manager he doesn't rate for bringing through young players and the way the first team was set up. It might not be nice to hear someone else slag off our team but he wasnt wrong. Remmer this was with the background of Mighten being dropped after scoring and no marks like Knockaert getting picked.

Burke went for 13m at the back end of the window after scoring 4 goals in Aug.

No reason when Johnson couldn't do the same if given the chance. If we do sell we'd be daft to sell now IMO.

IF we keep him and he has a good season you’re looking at 15M next season or we’re promoted and can tell Brentford to get f**ked.

I can't see them offering us anyone decent as part of the package, and £6m still feels way too low considering what we got for Appiah and Brereton (who hadn't had seasons as good as the one Johnson just had). We'd be stupid to accept this bid.

The Athletic reported that Brennan is expected to sign a new deal imminently. I also hear that Dane Murphy has told Brennan that he intends to build the squad around him/Mighten etc.

So I’d be very surprised to see him sold.

That sounds great if it was Dane who picks the team on a Saturday. We will see what CH thinks in 7 days time. I hope he has a similar opinion on Brennan though.

If Hughton doesn't I don't see him lasting long.

I don’t expect him to last the season to be fair, Dane and Chris seem to have different ideas on how the game should be played etc so I’d imagine someone will come in who’s more in line with Danes ideas

Sorry what evidence is there that they have different ideas?

Dane likes a youthful team who plays a high pressing style, does that sound like any Hughton side from the last decade or so? It doesn’t to me.

I rate Hughton highly but his teams do not play the above style.

As someone said higher up, if Brentford are sniffing take their track record as a hint of his potential. He has 2 years to run. The way our window has gone BJ has a great opportunity to prove himself in more than one position. If he has a great season he is worth more next summer even without signing a contract. If he has two great seasons we will still get a fee as he is under 24. So the only reason to let him go is if you think he won’t have a good impact and you think £4m ish is a good fee.

So nowt conclusive then? Just your interpretation of what you think DM wants to do and want you think CH doesn't want to do.

Yeah nothing conclusive at all, just 12 years of Hughtons managerial career showing he does things one way.

If you think the managers hired at Barnsley are anything like Hughton then I don’t know what to say.

Dane went on record saying they hired Valeron Ismael due to him playing ‘gegenpressing football’. I can probably count the amount of times Forest pressed someone high up the pitch in my life time on one hand.

Dane Murphys preferred style.

“We are continually looking at head coaches who implement the pressing model, the gegenpressing, German high-press, create as many chances as possible, and last season Valerien was second in all of Europe, at LASK,” Murphy said.

'Gegenpressing' sounds like a German porn movie to me-but it sounds great on his CV.
I bet Brian and Peter would have been impressed.

Speaking as possibly the forums‘ leading enthusiast of the German-Style, I can tell you Forest were nowhere near that last season.

By a long way.

If that’s what is expected, I’m not convinced that it’s a style of play favoured by the current Manager.

Good CEOs make best use of their available assets and build on the foundation already laid.

Dane may well have been able to implement a certain style of play via his managerial recruitment at Barnsley, but he will be well aware that Forest is a very different beast and will require a different perspective.

This will have already been extensively thought about and modelled out as part of his recruitment into the club. I appreciate people think Marinakis is an idiot, but you don’t run multi billion dollar companies by making poor hiring choices. Even tho on the pitch his time will be deemed as a failure; commercially Vrentroz is the most successful CEO we have ever had. The numbers don’t lie.

Gegenpressing was what Dane prioritised at Barnsley. No guarantee he will do the same here.

I thought I saw somewhere that he said his ideology for Barnsley was based on the size/funds of the club.

Not at all, but, everything I’ve said is based on what both Chris and Dane have done so far in their respective careers.

Most of the best teams in the world press the opposition high up the pitch so we wouldn’t be daft to attempt to implement this over the next few transfer windows.
