January transfer window

Last days of the transfer window, you haven't signed anyone yet, so it's time for some trolling and Alf flares: what about an Oly reject?

What's on offer? A right back (three are available, should you want one), and a Portugueuse midfielder, I don't know if you've heard of him, his name is Tiago Silva. :p

We've signed Krovinovic.

If any of those right backs are better than Christie and Jenkinson, I'd welcome them here with open arms.

Are any worse? Except Nicky Eaden.

Think we are going to see at least 3 signings before the deadline. Garner looks like he's going to sign, and given recent transfer links I think it's safe to say that Hughton also wants another winger and a striker.

Rafinha, 35 and a half. You all know him of course. Impeccable technical skill, something like 100% in passing accuracy (albeit always safe passes), he can't run, overlap, or effectively defend anymore. He came as a big name in the summer, most of the fans were not impressed, and now he apparently had a fight with the manager.
Mohamed Dräger, 24 and a half. He was bought from Freiburg, he was very highly recommended as an excellent athlete, but did not exactly live up to this reputation. He came here injured and it took him a long time to recover. He then played one good game, one poor game and then he managed to have a severe muscle injury in the 4th minute of another game. When he recovered, he was not good. He has a good cross in him, but his injury record is annoying and his football nous not great.
Thanassis Androutsos, 24 in May. One of the weirdest products of our academy. Great character and working ethos, but he never found his position. He has played (both with us and for the various teams he was loaned out to), as a no. 10, as a secondary striker, as a winger, as a central midfielder, as a holding midfielder, as a right and a left back. As a right back (where he has mostly played this season), he is excellent tactically, both upfront and in defence. Good crosses, very poor in dribbling. Not strong enough for the championship I suspect.

So, to answer your question more briefly, probably not.

Looks like two further transfers on the way, one of which will be Murray:

On second thought, and judging by your comments on Christie (I'm not watching today's match, but I've seen enough of Christie), you might be better off with any one of them.

We’d be better off if Hughton picked himself at full-back rather than Christie

Really hope not.

If Modesto's in the mood to unleash a scattergun approach again, he should save it for his missus' tits.

Rumours of players leaving (Sow, Arter) and being linked with crap we don't need like Lumley is making me a bit nervous. Got a feeling we are going to sign 5 or 6 players tomorrow (as well as getting rid of a similar number), most of which won't improve us. Hope I'm wrong.

Yep. 4 incomings and Hoots sacked 3 games later

We've already done that once this season (sign a bunch of players and sack the manager a few games later), I wouldn't put it past the club to do it again. They don't make good decisions at the best of times, so I worry the worse things get the more irrational the clubs actions will become.

It should be obvious to everyone that Modesto is not in charge of recruitment anymore. He would never propose a player like Murray, nor hasten to sell a player he brought in like Sow. It looks like his voice is no. 2 or even 3 at the recruitment table (certainly below Hughton, perhaps even Brazil).

Agreed, but it was just a spunk gag mate.

With Modesto finally in his place as a subordinate, I hope every day of his starts with a dead arm and a swirlie wurly off Gaz Braz. ;)

If we don't "Hughton hasn't been backed enough!"

If we do "the recruitment are at it again!"

That should cover it.

I appreciate its difficult to bring in the players we need in the position we are in. I won't fault the club for trying to do the right thing but failing.

What I don't want to see is another window where we bring in an obscene amount of players that we don't need, something that the club has form for and has heavily contributed to putting us in the position we currently find ourselves in.

As for the whole Modesto thing, the scattergun transfer policy was in place before he started working for Forest to be fair. It's something that has been in place going all the way back to January 2018.
