Did anyone upload his Forest Player interview anywhere, for those of us that don't have Forest Player ?

It's on the Forest YouTube channel now.

Just watched the press conference. Think DF comes across well, you can tell he isn't interested in paying lip service to anyone and just wants to get out on the training ground and get to work. Good man.

A few ground out wins to stop the rot, and then tika taka for the rest of the season. ;)
In all serious it will probably take until the end of the season for DF to begin to impose his style.

Will it though?

Why can't he just say to the players, "don't do that any more, do this instead"?

Probably over-simplifying things a bit but I don't see why it need take ages

He probably needs to start with:

"Lads, this is a football. You need to keep hold of it please!"

That would be a good start.

Good interview. He's got my full backing! I'm glad he has a passion for the academy and bringing players through. Not too sure about the promoting from within idea with the coaches, sounds to me like he's not allowed to bring in his own coaching staff. People like Jimmy Gilligan, Gary Brazil and Steve Sutton are in their element working and developing youngsters, not coaching senior players.

Jimmy Gilligan seems to be good at improving players after the usual academy training. I see no reason why this can't work with our first team. If any of them come across as knowing it all, they should be made to watch the Millwall game.

Judging by the articles I have read from links on here, his impact at Palace and Bolton were pretty quick, at least as far as results were concerned. Not sure about how long it will take to 'impose his style' though. That could obviously take a while.

Not sure who posted this article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/bolton-wanderers/11117237/Bolton-Wanderers-manager-Dougie-Freedman-relishing-tough-apprenticeship-ahead-of-League-Cup-test-at-Chelsea.html, but the first paragraph reads:
Dougie Freedman is so meticulous with his preparations that even the black-and-white photographs on the walls of Bolton Wanderers training ground are chosen and presented with a deliberate effect in mind. The pictures are of club legends like Nat Lofthouse or sepia prints of Bolton’s first home at Pike’s Lane in 1881, emphasising the long, lauded history. The captions are typed in small print so the players have to look closely.
Given that he is clearly friendly with Stuart Pearce and respects him, I wonder whether his photo will be up on the dressing room wall?

“We do a lot of our planning in here. This room here was a junk room. We’ve made it into a boardroom. It’s smart, a Premier League room. Parents sit in these seats. I sell them a club that is going to give their son an opportunity. I sell them an environment that enables their son the best chance to be a footballer. We coach them. We have video rooms for youngsters. We embrace education. We offer their parents a package over why Robert Hall should leave West Ham and come to us. We can’t sell them a financial package. We sell them an idea.
“We are not going to buy our way to the Premier League. We have to develop our way to the Premier League. So the environment has to be right. Behind the scenes we’ve created an environment that allows for players to flourish. If I don’t have a long-term objective than I don’t believe I’m doing my job. I have to get the place ready for success. Fans probably don’t understand that. They don’t really want to listen to that but at boardroom level they understand that. Hence the reason I’m probably they’d look at why I am still in a job.”

I hope it works out with this guy. But then we say that every time

Having had a bit of time to think about the chaos that has just ensued, I'm actually quite happy with the appointment of Freedman.

Having Pearce back and the atmosphere he brought to the club was incredible, The early doors run was electric from both the fans and the players but the football we played after the Fulham home game just got worse on an almost weekly basis.

Personally I think some of the recent games were the worst football to watch since Cotterball, Despite the fact the fact the squad is a whole lot stronger and unfortunately he had to go.

I'm hoping Dougie can get the ball moving through the midfield rather than over it and get the defence organised, as from what I hear his Palace team kept the ball well and were tight at the back, And this was with a very poor squad on paper.

That would have been me. Thanks for giving it a bump. It is worth it for those who hadn't read it yet.

Hoping to get a piece together from a well respected Palace fan for @SeatPitch by the end of the week

It certainly is. I had only read the 1st paragraph when I re-posted it. Thanks for putting that up there. Reading it kind of reminds me of Dario Gradi, and to a lesser extent, SO'D.

It takes 2 years to instil your style. Doesn't it?

Under normal circumstances maybe, but Stuart Pearce was unable to impose any discernible ethos of play during his tenure. Dougie Freedman effectively has a blank canvass. Shouldn't take too long to mould this squad into something decent. Assuming they've got the appetite.

Sounds great but 2 weeks after that article was published Freedman was sacked. Hope he doesn't take on too much and concentrates on the on-field activities.

Sad to say that ive read a couple of news pieces about him and thats about it.

Look at my second name of my username - that was created with Cotterill in mind - but has come to sum up my feeling of Forest in general now.

Don't really care any more, and itll be a long time before i believe any of the soundbite false promises and talking anything up - whether an individual player, the manager or Fawaz himself. Forest are a continual car crash mess of a football club.

I wish him the best, but the fact that hes on such a short contract shows that Fawaz realises his itchy trigger finger is costing him a lot in compensation now.

Am I wrong in thinking that irrespective of length of contract the maximum pay off is a year anyway so it's all a bit academic really.

Well we've apparently got 4 previous managers still being paid off Wes so would seem wrong.

I don't know about our more recent managers, but I was fairly reliably informed that former goalie-coach Pete Williams' compo claim against Forest in the wake of Billy losing him his job was £10K, and that was amicably settled just prior to a trubunal hearing (presumably for a little less than that figure?), as indeed were the claims by Messrs Kelly and Darby. In which case, I can't imagine that their settlements would've been significantly more.

How do we think Fawaz will view things if we win a few games, lose a couple and end up around mid-table at the end of the season? Personally I'd be quite happy with that, with the idea that we'll give it a good go next season.

Not sure yet about Freedman's ability (in comparison to Pearce) in identifying quality players, and bringing them in (ie, Fryatt, Burke, Mancienne, Tesche, etc). Does anyone know what his transfers were like at Palace and Bolton? Think he'll dip in to our academy?
