Re: Millwall want Lansbury

The majority are letting the fact he's an arsenal product cloud judgement, he is the same as joe garner, exceptionally rare glimpses of quality and the majority of time he simply wastes possession. you can make all the excuses you wany, lack of pre-season, out of position etc , the fact remains he is not good enough, its so obvious to see, hence my assumption people arent going to the games he's played in.

I'm not. I saw him play at Norwich several times and he looked the business.

Again I go back to what I said about Dex the other day - bad form does not make a bad player. Give the lad a full pre-season and a run in a settled side and he'll do well.

Here's fans opinions who had him in better fitness/form.........

If King Billy can turn Lewis into the player he was 2 seasons ago, then Lansbury should come good without doubt.

Re: Millwall want Lansbury

Like Alf & Co say perhaps we'll see him in better light if he gets a regular spot and we start to show some form and football once again.

Arsenal do not often let young talent go it must be said.

So let me get this straight

Forget Arsenal for now

Good enough for Norwich
Good enough for West Ham
Good enough for England U21s

Not good enough for Nottingham Forest?

Admittedly he's been far from brilliant all the time but that pass against Wolves was sublime.

I agree maybe he needs a couple of goals to boost his confidence but to say he just isn't/never will be good enough is short sighted in the extreme.

I dont think people are letting the fact that he was an Arsenal academy product cloud their judgement but i think most appreciate that if you happen to be a part of that academy you must have some sort of ability at least and its clear that is what Lansbury has.

While he may not have seemed to have set the world alight here many can see that the lad does have ability and given a good run of games and a good pre season behind him it will show.

Looking at Lansbury in the games ive seen him, he doesnt seem the type to just let games pass him by like say McGugan but he does like to get to stuck in which is why I personal think CM would be a better position for him then say attacking midfielder because of his passing and because he can get a tackle in unlike Majewski and he also has a bit of physical presence as well.

Re: Millwall want Lansbury

I just think that in a season where hardly any players have performed consistently throughout, mainly due to a boatload of inconsistencies both on and off the pitch and a short pre-season, judging a player who's only started 9 games in that time would be silly. Especially when they are only 22 y/o, and had most of those starts under a spazbot like F'eck-face Mcleish.

Psycho's Dragon hit the nail on the head -

Again "Not good enough for Nottingham Forest"? It's been our undoing for the past year and a half - we need to start accepting that we're not a Prem club yet and that some players may take a bit and patience, time and work before they come good. Just look at the difference between McClaren era Reid and the one playing early doors this season.

I think hitting Dev's arse warrent's him a bit of time at least anyway .....

Agree with ^ ^^ & ^^^

Some people on here would do well to go away and meditate on the phrase 'Form is temporary, class is permanent'.

Big fan of Lansbury. Sure he hasn't been influential so far this season but he has certainly shown glimpses of what he can do. As others have said he has also shown his worth at Norwich, West Ham and for the England U21's, Personally I think he'll thrive under Billy, he is just the sort of player that Billy will get the best out of.

Good god. If fans managed this club we'd only have 11 players because squad players don't exist.

He's 23. He's got a good pedigree. He's done well at this level before. He'll get better. His value will increase.

Can't see why anyone would want rid. Be nice if he got a go at centre-mid though, because he is not a right-mid.

I really don't see the point of getting rid of Lansbury at this time. He's got real good pedigree. And I think he will prove himself under the right leadership.
He needs a few games in the centre of a settled midfield. This guys got vision. IMO better than Raddy.

I'd drive him there. He's been a total flop, and in my opinion was the one player too many in summer that bloated the squad. He's got talent, and I'm sure he'd be quality at Millwall, but he's just one of those players who never fitted in at Forest IMO.

Well said. All it takes is a brief stint of form for a player that age to have their value shoot up. Just look at Mcleary - what would he have been worth after the Leeds game had we renewed his contract? 2m? More?

Really? He's started 9 games and "he's just one of those players who never fitted in at Forest."? Wow. Just wow.

And there are some criticising the owners for judging and getting rid of people without them really getting chance to prove themselves.

like tudgay?

Not really.
Tudgay is an established player who has shown what he has had to offer for years, before he even come to Forest
What about the other ones Greening, Boateng, Derbyshire, Collins. Seem to remember taking stick for them too. Hendersons got nothing to come either.

Tudgay's had 8 more years on this planet to prove himself ahead of Lansbury though. For a pro footballer who's careers are usually between 10 & 20 years that's a large amount.

Judging a 28-30 y/o is a different kettle of fish to a footy player under 24. At 24 I only had to fart twice a day to get a 6 pack stomach.

It's what my original point was Alf.
You knew what Tudgay brought to the table.
