I think the Newcastle fans were chanting ‘Wissa is a c**t” at Leeds last night….

Oh wait I misheard it was ‘Isak is a c**t’, presumably because he released a statement saying Newcastle had failed to comply with promises.

I think to not be duplicitous Newcastle might need to distance themselves from the statement and withdraw their interest publicly after the statement which seems to basically have copy pasted Isaks.

I'm sure Spurs still hold an interest so he might get his move but I think as long as Isak is held to his contract, Newcastle shouldn't sign Wissa.

Wissa has gone a nuclear on Brentford via a public statement. What a mess, hasn’t exactly created a great image for himself.
Don't sign contracts which you aren't prepared to honour.
Like it or not, players have made themselves tradeable commodities and they are rewarded beyond the wildest dreams of most people. They demand ridiculous wages but still want the right to restrict their teams ability to be able to recoup what they consider to be a fair amount at the right time for the club in question.
If they don't like it, how about free movement and a salary cap which allows football ro remain sustainable?
Thought not.

To be fair, Wissa does say he has it in writing they would let him leave if a reasonable offer comes in so you could say in regards to the club don’t write it down if you aren’t going to honour it as well.

Isak’s accusation was based on trust me bro, they told me I could go.

Not a chance we sign him .. this club buys players that will fit our team dynamic... his latest statement stinks especially when he deleted all his associations with the club that pays his wages. Let him go to Newcastle or spurs, we don't need him..!!!

If nothing else it would be interesting to discover what the 'reasonable offer's was recorded as, if it was in relation to our bid.

A quick read of one of our forums will tell you that most of our fans have the same opinion on Wissa's statement and actions.

The best thing for football right now is that we keep Isak and Brentford keep Wissa, and both players are allowed to rot for a bit. This "player power" shite needs to be well and truly ejected into the sun.

Unfortunately at least one of the transfers will go through and players will try this more and more in future windows.

Yeah, I think as football fans we almost always see it from a club's perspective but loyalty is a 2 way street.

I'm not saying that it's OK to just go on strike but if we were at work and had done a good job for a few years and another firm came in and wanted to triple your wage, but your current firm (somehow) says you're not allowed to leave then we'd be pissed off.

I get that it's so difficult to compare a Prem footballer with the bloke in the street as they could retire when they're 21 and live like kings for the rest of their lives. But if something happens, be it injury, loss of form or change of manager, the club will quickly just bin off players. Or bomb squad them with no interest in their careers.

I listen to lots of player interview podcasts at work and this is reported to happen to them way too much for it to just be seen as sour grapes from players. Clubs f*** over players regularly, there are a few examples over the past 3/4 years where we have I'm sure.

Depends on what's written. "Reasonable offer" means nowt unfortunately, and a reasonable offer in May is different to a reasonable offer in July or August, especially with the summer they've had.

If the player doesn't have a release clause, then "reasonable" is whatever the club decides it is.

When Van Hooijdonk was screwing us over, it was suggested that the whole league lump in to pay off his transfer fee. Then Forest toss the dirt bag in the reserves or never play him through his whole contract. Nip it in the bud. We should have done it

Reasonable without a context is a weasel word

Was thinking the same, Cap. Reasonable is subjective without further context.
It’s difficult to quantify ‘reasonable’ in law, particularly in the context of footballers as values fluctuate around performance, market conditions, demand etc etc so imo ‘reasonable’ is too generic and unhelpful
