What an absolute breath of positivity Vitor has been. The whole squad stepping up after we'd written many off. Pulling out result after result. We couldn't have hoped for anything more from a coach.

I think we can put to bed that Dyche would have done better. 52 aimless crosses, miserable squad and angry fans. What a change this has been.

It's still all to play for, but now we play looking up, not down. This could be our best season in decades.

That Burnley second half of switching to two strikers and only one traditional winger really unlocked something.
That’s the thing, people had a go at bakwa first half against Burnley. When in reality every single one of our players were cack than. Than massive massive credit to Vitor because that weird formation he’s done has been such a good fit for us. It’s not really a 4-4-2 it isn’t rigid like that. Jesus drops sometimes and goes to 10. Williams is our de facto left winger which means MGW plays close to the 2 strikers. It’s just a very fluid formation that gets the most out of our played talents. Really top credit to Vitor. Mcatee has looked all season useless on the wing. But today at left midfield where he got to drift inside it made him look really tidy.

When he was appointed the manager at Wolves I did a bit of research and while he got many plaudits for his tactics when things were going well in his many, many previous clubs, when the wheels fall off he's got a reputation for throwing his toys out the pram, blaming everyone else and falling out with bosses and players very quickly.... that said he's been remarkably zen so far. No surprise as its going better than anyone, including him, could even have dreamed.

Maybe he's turned an emotional corner and found his happy place, he's been remarkable so far. For all that people have praised de Zerbi, VP has done an even greater job IMO to not just get a "new manager bounce" but build on it, which Spurs have not yet.

IF we stay up AND win the EL he's surely in prime position to get the job full time, no?

Just something as simple as playing with two up top and playing to Jesus and Wood's strengths I guess.

No one plays 4-4-2 anymore, teams just don't seem to know how to deal with it.
Jesus doesn't really play as an out and out striker though, he plays very deep and floats all over the place. He is basically a number 10 that can hold the ball up in the way he plays.

But yes, your general point is right - he has just picked a way of playing that suits everyone's strengths. With another striker up top it takes the pressure of Jesus to be the main goal threat & occupies defenders.

What has impressed me is how damn good we are at pressing sides already under him, I am certain having both Jesus & Wood/T up top will play a part in that as teams are making a lot of mistakes playing out against us.

It seems more like a 4-2-3-1 with Hutch tending to stay on the right side and MGW and Jesus alternating.

That press is a real weapon. I thought for ages when we used to sit back and watch Dunk stand with his foot on the ball for 10 minutes that we should be pressuring defenders. I know it has to be timed right but it looks like VP has got it nailed and we're using it superbly well

I think most of our managers have tried to do it at various stages but none have done it better than VP. The players are buying into it as well, they seem to enjoy it more.

It’s one of the reasons I think it’s a no brainer why he should be in charge next season, really he’s playing the style we were allegdly looking for.
