Quite sad it looks like his career trajectory is going to be the bottom two leagues at very best going into his peak years

Has all the hallmarks of a player who has given up on football after a few setbacks. Not that I know that for certain, just how it looks.

I think he just needs to find a place where he's liked and taken in, he had that at Lincoln and Stags and he did a decent job for both of them. Cov never seemed to be a good fit for him

Hope he finds a place where he can settle down and still salvage the best years of his career, whichever division that is

dessie must be so dissapointed at how lackluster career his son has had and what it could have been during forest promotion at wembly.

He will be proud of punch of his son like anybody would if they beat the 99.9% of other people trying to be a pro footballer.

If he expected him to replicate his career he would have been a terrible father.

So many players who break through to the full professional game have high levels of technical skill.
Without that they would never get to be professionals, such is the competion for contracts.
They will also have the heart/lung/muscle capability of being trained to the required level of fitness and stamina.
What determines whether how well they will do in their career is the mental strength.
If their mentality is fragile, they will be far less likely to really kick on and become a top class pro.

It’s the same in every sport. The game I used to play competitively as a kid was tennis and there were probably 50-100 kids in each age group with similar technical ability. It was mental toughness that separated it out.

Why would Des be disappointed? Just because he had a career at the top-level it doesn't follow that his son should too.

Tyler has made a decent living from the game so far and still has a few years to make a name for himself.

I'd go further. For all Des's fabulous talent and ability he was one of the most ordinary, humble guys off the pitch. As an example I remember him walking into Jallons bar after England had been eliminated from the 1990 World Cup and he'd just returned and sitting at the end of the bar with a pint and a fag and reading the paper. No one hassled him-he was part of the furniture but if you did want a chat he would be just like the next bloke.
If anyone is grounded in football it is Des and he will be happy that he has a healthy son with his life in front of him, whether that's in football or something else I think will be a secondary consideration for Des...

Such a shame what has happened to Tyler since he left us. It does seem like L2 is his level unfortunately- still he can still have a fantastic career at that level.

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
We should have backed and nurtured him instead of spending £20m on Grabban & Carvalho

He scored 16 goals for Lincoln in half a season in League One, which suggests he could do a job at that level. The Championship seems to be a step too high though unfortunately.

Said it earlier in this thread but the move to Coventry was a terrible one for him, he's a player that's always thrived under very specific circumstances. When he's been playing for clubs where he's shown love and under managers that show belief in him he plays with confidence and looks a decent forward

Sadly at Coventry he's never been shown that love and has never had the favour of the manager, which has completely ruined his confidence and now he's a shell of the player I remember coming through the ranks. He still has time to salvage his career at a respectable level but he really needs to get the right move this time
