West Ham are a good team and Man City have done to them what Newcastle did to us yesterday.

Shows you how how tough this league is and the difference in quality and desire.

We will need to focus ourselves on beating teams like Leicester, Wolves, Everton, Southampton, Leeds, Villa, Brentford, Palace.

If we can throw in the odd surprise result, that will be very welcomed.

Man City have 5 players on the bench that cost £165m. God knows what their first choice team is worth.

If that doesn’t put our challenge into perspective playing these teams nothing does.

Teams like Brighton, West Ham and Newcastle are full of players that are a different level of fitter, stronger and faster at a minimum before you think about ability.

Hasn't Haaland scored a hattrick for Dortmund on his debut in the league and the champions league matches?

He made his debut as a second-half sub for Dortmund and scored a 21-minute hat trick, no less.

He really is a bit special.

Man City were in League 1 at the same time we were last in the Premier League, which just makes you think.

Since that point, they went up to the Premier League. Got relegated straight away. Finished as Championship champions in 2001/02. Following that, they've consolidated their position in the top league.

We shouldn't be deterred if we do happen to get relegated. The journey is a tough one but it's one we should be looking at as a long-term project. Even Klopp couldn't get Liverpool going in the first few years. Took him 3 years to win anything.

I very much liked Alvarez‘s obvious concern as he totally blanked him …….I’m liking young Julian already

How do you even stop Haaland?

You just can’t stop somebody with his physicality, he has the pace/acceleration of a 5’7 agile winger but he’s about 6’4 and rock solid. Both those goals, West Ham defenders can’t even do anything.

I don’t think I have ever seen a player that will so obviously be the best player in the world. The only thing that will stop him will be injuries.

I can’t wait to see him at the city ground, will be a pleasure to watch him.

His whole career has been like a lab experiment to create the perfect footballer. A footballing dad, was really small until he was 17 so developed technical skills that a small striker would have, grew into a physical monster after that and has a mentality where you could probably put him on the North Pole and he would run home.

Terrified of what he might do to us, but watching a genuine world class player in the flesh is certainly a different prospect to seeing some big lump like Matt Smith score against us. Fantastic player who is going to be brilliant for City.

That was an incredible performance.

His 2nd goal he doesn't even touch the ball ro get it under control, the way he runs on to the shot just shows his presence of mind.

It will be great to watch him at the front of that City attack.

I thought he would really disrupt City but just after watching that game he just adds another dimension to their game.

Every time West Ham left their own half (about 3 times) he looked like he was gonna score.

When a player like that has De Bruyne behind him, it’s just gonna result in so many goals. Especially when Haaland realises KDB will literally pick a pass on every run he makes.

Has he singed yet?

Definitely afraid of what he might do to us, but you're right - great to be able to watch a player of this calibre do this thing. Just hopefully his thing when he plays us is get subbed after 5 minutes...

Obviously, I’ve seen an awful lot of young Haaland, as anyone who remembers the original European Football thread may recall, I was raving about him when he was at Salzburg, and when Dortmund signed him, he was a fantastic fit for them.

Pace, power, goals, fantastic athlete, he’s the kind of player who you pay money to watch.

And with Pep at Man City, he's only going to get better, which is frightening.
