Top 10 Forest strikers

I have posted before; I have a German colleague who is a fan of 1. FC Köln (she was born there and follows the club since birth) who jokingly has - more than once - thanked me for Tony Woodcock (she knows, I am a Forest fan).

Herr Woodcock is absolutely lionised in Köln, even now, because he was that. f***ing. good.

Since 1976…in no particular order apart from the first one…

Collymore
Roy
Birtles
Woodcock
van Hooijdonk
Nigel
Earnshaw
Campbell

then if I can be allowed a bit of leeway…

Psycho - frequently looked like scoring when near the opposition’s goal
Duncan Mackenzie - didn’t get to see him play, but he was my favourite when I was 4 years old. Then he left. Dad says I was very upset.

The Artiste formally known as "Wanksy"
Mental how many he scored.

One of mates was playing for the dippers at the time, and did a few loan spells at the likes of Hudders & Crewe, and he said that PVH's reputation amongst other players & managers was that if you ever played against him avoiding fouling him anywhere in sight of goal was priority number 1, as it was deemed the same as giving away a penalty coz he was that good at free kicks.

Stan
Nigel
Chappo
Roy
Campbell
PVH
Sheringham
Jemmo
Harewood
B Johnson

Starting from 87.
Nigel was the bravest player I've seen. Always played with his back to goal, which was well ahead of the trend, when donkeys like Adams and Bould could just plough through you.
Chappo was fantastic, hugely underrated by our fans. Top goal scorer when Dirty Leeds won the title. We looked like a team that could win the title with him and Webb in it.
Campbell had a bad back injury when he arrived and it took him seasons to get over it. Thats why Arsenal let him leave and why he was useless in his 1st couple of seasons with us. Lethal in the promotion side, and selfless with it. No way PVH scores the goals he did without Kev. And just look at what he did at Everton in half a season as we sank without trace.

I just saw Davenport, but not enough to include him, and thought he was great. Johnson snr was good too, and honourable mention to Grabbs. Only saw Birtles play as a centre back so can't include him.

I've been thinking about this a lot this evening and my picks would be (considering I'm talking from late 80s onwards)........

1. Stan Collymore.
2. Bryan Roy.
3. Nigel Clough.
4. Pierre van Hooijdonk.
5. Teddy Sheringham.
6. Robert Earnshaw.
7. Kevin Campbell.
8. David Johnson.
9. Dexter Blackstock.

And for the 10th and final place, and it's a special one, I must include the brilliant Junior Agogo, who was top scorer when we got promoted from League 1. He scored some beauties. RIP Junior 🙏

Davenport is another one of those players who was fantastic for us and turned shit on arrival at Old Trafford. Never got back to his best.

I reckon he must have played with Cooper at Bangor City, which would be an interesting pub quiz question.
