I would have thought improving the BC stand for supporters would be higher priority than Bridgford, it still looks great but is horribly congested behind the upper tier seating and there are not enough turnstiles, for the upper tier. I don't see any situation now after getting that planning through that we will ever move.
I think it would be a smoother process too. To level that Bridgford corner is going to mean jumping through hoops again to get the local housing on board. All for 2-3k extra seats.

A redeveloped BC stand would increase that capacity further, and generate more income from better hospitality that side too. It might also provide an opportunity to build the corner onto the Trent End.

We won't look at any more development to the City Ground for at least 5 years.

It's going to be 2 years until the new stand is open.

It'll be a couple of years after that before we'll know where we stand, if you'll excuse the pun.

I can see the BC stand being demolished and upgraded next, if only to expand the corporate facilities and other stuff that are now standard in football stadiums.

Redeveloping the BC stand has the greatest potential but it also means losing 10k seats for over a year while it gets built. It’s also the one stand that I feel gives off the most classic look of the City Ground.

In terms of hospitality they could do much better by just redoing the BC boxes. Who wants to watch a football match in a glass box?

The hospitality bits in the new stand will probably make them redundant in the BC. I reckon they could add in more seats there and add a small middle tier?

That congestion leads to more seats though, which helps alleviate the crux of our problem with the ground being too small. If it was to be rebuilt, then I'd guess modern regulations would possibly lead to the stand having to be much bigger to facilitate a modest increase in capacity? Somebody mentioned it being a 3 tier stand, which would increase capacity, but would also resemble a Frankenstein stadium coupled to the lowly Brigeford end. Capacity issues solved - but I envisage the CG looking ridiculous for it.

However, if they do redo the BC in the future, I hope they copy Villa's new stand with the space that will be available behind. The street food and beers is already popular in the summer and would be more so all year round under cover further increasing revenue. They could do a BOXT park type thing for events outside of Forest also.

The document isn't available, but it is frustrating how limited in size the Brigeford end is and is holding us back.

Works for me. What I also notice is that if we wanted a bigger footprint for the BC Stand, we would need to take out at least one of those Rowing/Kayak Club building behind it too. I forget how close there are.

I’m hoping the club are also considering safe standing areas behind both goals and if and when that happens move away fans to the upper tier of one of the other stands.

Honestly, if we redeveloped the Brian Clough then ALL the boat buildings would have to go, purely to give some access round the back. It's really awkward there.

I dont think you'd get much more seats in there than what youve actually got... cost v reward wouldn't be high I don't think

The closest house, 21 Colwick Road. Looks like they also bought Number 23, joined them together and stuck an extension on the side so I assume the club don't own that one.

Someone buy these 8 plots out and get rid.

I can pretty much guarantee that as soon as you try to force this issue 1 or more will dig their heels and make it impossible.

These are people's homes and they have value for people that is often beyond financial compensation. When you add the compulsion, it makes it more difficult.

LFC made the mistake of thinking you could just buy people out. And when they realised it wasn't possible they ghettoised the area. That made it even harder because the residents then had a moral reason to resist. While from the outside, that resistance looks irrational, it's actually strengthening the determination to stay. It took over 12 years to get that resolved.

I'd hate Forest to become a club that does that.

Stands don't have to be rectangular.

Yeah I know what you mean. But I’ve always fancied knocking on their doors and asking the owners (if they live there), how they feel about living there with the ground so close, if they would move if something better came up, how much they’d sell for and whether the club had ever approached them before.

The club own 21-23 Colwick Road... from the light assessment in the application:

On the basis that 21-23 Colwick Road is owned by the NFFC, has been unoccupied since 2017 and is used to house trainees we would suggest that less weighting is applied to the impacts at this property.
That confirms what I posted earlier.

A bedroom window in no.23 overlooked the Bridgford End terrace and was an ideal match vantage point for the occupants of the house until the club acquired it, and the adjoining no.21 for conversion into the hostel to accommodate the non-local apprentices together. Incidentally, for many years it was run by our former striker, John Galley, and his wife.

Prior to that, the owners of various properties in and around Lady Bay were recruited to provide digs.

Then stick this lot of old sheds in with the boat club we’ve already got to find a home for and get rid. Improve and widen the exit routes out to Lady Bay. Done.
I think that this lot of old sheds, the ones nearest to the BC stand at least, are provisionally earmarked to be redeveloped into the new NRC facility.
