There used to be a proper pork pie shop in Chelmsford High Street 50 or 60 years ago. I miss it.

So the thought of a proper pork pie shop at the CG included in the new build would set my pulse racing and I might get the old bones moving for one last trip to the hallowed ground.

I’ve been in touch with the club recently wishing to buy a ‘Brick in the Wall’ to commemorate the birth of my grandson.

Alas, until the stadium developments have been completed they’re not taking any new orders.

I’ve no idea if the current bricks will be re-located or if a new space will be created for new orders.

Judging by the time it’s taken to get this far, I think I’ll be able to combine it with his 18th birthday gift.
Many congratulations on becoming a grandmother. I take it the young chap has already received his first kit?

I know there is still a lot to do before we get spades in the ground but I do find it a little strange that there has been no official acknowledgement of the decision from the club. Even a token, "Forest welcomes.." type statement in absence of more detail on what we will eventually be getting. Maybe it's coming, maybe they are leaving it for a rainy day but this 3 week break seems an ideal time to keep fans engaged.

The club are consistently poor at communicating directly with fans about anything going on off the pitch. Even just basic things like announcing Edu leaving - absolutely no mention on the club website from what I can see. It doesn't matter if he's left on bad terms - just be a bit more professional about it.

And if you were solely relying on the club website for information relating to the development you probably would have no idea what's being planned or where things are at.

Assume they might wait now until the planning decision notice is publicised (took a few weeks last time) and for the S106 to be agreed / signed.

I'm just back from what is now, sadly, a rare work trip abroad. Holland is a fine country, a pleasant and profitable couple of days. Now, whilst there, I met colleagues who are directly involved with Forest. Very little was given away but the simple message was "don't underestimate the ambitions of the owner". I couldn't get any detail, save mainly for historical stuff which is already known about, but the smiles, nods and winks told me a lot. I asked a direct question about the state of the concourses and food and drink and so on and I was very pleased to be told that the club are acutely aware, have been waiting for the planning consent, and that the rebuilt and renewed stadium will have the very best of the best. Cross your fingers, don't hold your breath, but it is an issue that is known about and one that will be resolved to a high standard.

In other news, the Dutch found the news about 115 FC hilarious. Comments like "it's been obvious" and "relegate them five leagues" capture the mood.

Now, put my laundry in the machine and go and get Dad his shopping. Why oh why is there such a large period of time without proper football in early autumn. I miss it already.

Do you think the redevelopment goes ahead if we're relegated?

Don't ask, just take it

I'm having loads of souvenirs following the last game that the main stand is open
I'd be surprised if there's a singular "last game" given the way construction is likely to proceed.

They'll gradually start closing sections and migrating people out until by the time the actual last game comes there's only a few hundred people left, and the old stand is already unrecognisable.

At some point in the process, they'll remove the roof, the TV gantry, etc. They'll probably close and remove the rear sections and concourse well before the front section goes.

By the time the last of the old structure is actually closed, I'd expect the new stand to be at least 50% open and the majority of people moved there or to other parts of the ground.

That would make sense. I can't recall where, but I saw something where it was proposed that the lower section will remain open throughout much of the build, which largely supports what you say.

I hear a lot of "it's too big" comments (possibly from Derby fans or similar). The simple fact is that our nearest competition to see EPL football is Villa, followed by Leeds. Derby are struggling, Leicester are in the third tier, Wednesday too. Sheffield Utd would be unlikely promotion candidates this season, so the opportunity is there to attract new fans, as well as tourists, whilst the other, relatively nearby clubs, are struggling.

Edit: apologies to Coventry, I forgot. Still my point remains.

Villa are currently capped at 37,000 whilst the Witton is being redeveloped, but both Villa and Leeds will be well above 50,000 when done, and so must we be.

The EPL is the most watched league in the world, and allegations of corruption notwithstanding, that is very unlikely to change anytime soon. We need to think big, and the club are doing just that.

That was the given reason for the club stopping selling season tickets a few years back - so that there would be room in the other stands for the main stand season ticket holders when (if) this all eventually starts...
I think that was the original plan. However, when I did the stadium tour the guide said plan was now to build behind and over (similar to what Liverpool and some others have done).

Guess this means current seating can remain in place until final phase, and maybe knocked out during summer months with minimal relocation needed.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the current plan given how much has changed in the intervening period.

As I've posted before I went to a supporters clubs AGM many years ago and Nigel Doughty was asked about expansion of the stadium. He said the first part would be to take the Brian Clough stand up a tier and back onto the car park. Then deal with the Main stand. Is there any plans to do anything like this?

The outline planning permission to do that to BC was passed at the same meeting as the permission for the new Peter Taylor stand. Depending on your views of when the new Peter Taylor stand will eventually get built the extra tier will be a few or many years away.
