The Liam Delap pop thread

Can't see it. He'll go to United, especially if they qualify for the CL.

I think Emmanuel Emegha at Strasbourg would be a better deal and the same age.

Thats a name I've not seen in a bit, cropped up when I was looking at 'other' things a few months back.

I find it hard to believe when Chelsea's only striker is Jackson (who is pap) they will let someone from their group go to another PL team.

On the other hand this is the same Chelsea that had Sels in their football network whilst having shite goalkeepers at and they let him go to us.

Sels never fit the profile of what they want at Chelsea, so it is a bit of a moot point.

I would have thought that a good goalkeeper would be exactly the profile they would want.

You're ignoring his age and ability with the ball at his feet. For the same reason that ManU wouldn't touch Milenkovic, Chelsea wouldn't touch Sels. All to our benefit too.

He's done well in an Ipswich team which has been ultimately pap, is still about 15, and has good scoring record and build up.

In reality he will end up way higher than we are (whether this season proves to be a fluke or not) and if we did get him it'd only be to get him ready to move to a big club.

But also, in reality I don't think he's ready to be a regular starter at a big club yet and at his age needs minutes for a couple of years at a club which isn't going down or fighting relegation.

Though he's from Direby (because his dad played for them) this would probably be a good move for us and him, he's probably similar in profile to Wood, but with a bit better hold up ability and more pace.

They have the most expensive goalie still on their books: Kepa who is on loan to Bournemouth.
Whilst being the most expensive, he definitely isn't the best.

He's probably their best keeper though, I always thought he was reasonably consistent when he's played for Chelsea and he's done well on loan.

The question of who the best keeper is often comes up, even in the PL it's a bit open to debate, the likes of Allison, Raya, Ederson will come up from being at the top clubs, and then there's the ones who are consistent but not at a top club and not fashionable because they can't play out as well or something like Sels, then there's the ones who are flappers like Onana, who can be good but can also be absolutely awful, then there's the Muric types who are quite simply terrible... and occasionally you see a decent keeper doing well in a poor side like Pickford was at Sunderland and is to an extent at Everton. The last group often stand out because in a side which is defensively poor a keeper has a lot to save, whereas for Liverpool or City they might only get 1/2 decent chances to keep out in a match.

Man Ure seem to be linked with signing anything with a pulse, not bad going given that they're supposed to be skint.

From what i read he is going to talk to all of the interested clubs so hopefully we are in the mix and Marinakis and Edu can sway him

Not arsed, was never coming here anyway.
I read somewhere he wants to pick the best career progression so might not be going to the glamour name and may make the right stepping stone move. But there will still be clubs I’d fancy more to pluck him even if he did do that.
