Roker beach is better than Seaburn‘s Rocka 😉, and don’t let anyone tell you different 😂

I can remember the early days of the Sunderland air show it was mental how many people descended (750,000) over the weekend, the place was buzzing, now the place is a shell.😕
Aye… Mrs rockabilly has just been telling me all about it . All very sad indeed.

Went to a Chinese (or maybe Thai ) restaurant that was directly on the beach somewhere near there. Was a works meal when I was at our Sunderland office for a couple of days

Having visted Mabo while I was staying in Sutton last week (Sutton is the classy resort) I was amazed by the number of disabled scooters. There are just so many you have to skip araound to avoid being hit by one.
Also petrol and diesel is 7 or 8p cheaper there than in Notts. That is a huge difference much more than a regional variation, some body is taking the p**s with these prices.

There are too many you are right. While some are polite there's always one or two that use them to batter their way through. There are a few that live near me that seem to use them as the family mode of transport. One minute mother's on it then the son is nipping down the shop on it.
Did you notice the accompanying jack Russell? I can't possibly get off my scooter to pick that shit up, I'm disabled you know.
I'm not well up on fuel prices but you do surprise me as I remember it always being more expensive here than Nottingham years ago.

We had a ride to Mablethorpe along the coast from Skeggy when I stumbled across what was Trusville holiday camp. We had a week there as kids in 78 so had some great memories. What a shame its in such a state now. It looks like any holiday accommodation disappeared years ago. I drove through and what was once a pristine little camp is now basically a slum. I felt really sad that a piece of my childhood has just been left to rot like this.
Sutton and Mablethorpe were nice though, they don't change much.

Is that the one with the club on the tight bend as you leave Maybo?

The club's not bad, cheapest ale around them parts. Think it's called 'Dreams'.

Spent a lot of my childhood at Trusthorpe as my grandad lived about half a mile from Trusthorpe hall (was supposedly haunted by the way) for years before moving back to Nottingham. Tried to find my grandads house but don't recognise anything.

They used to play a lot of soul and Motown in there when I used to go in there.

Also used to gig at the 'Mermaid' caravan park back in the 90s. Is that still there Ray?
The mermaid is just down the road from my house, that's where they have the classic car nights. They are extending that caravan park to the adjacent field which will give them another 200 caravans. I keep meaning to go in for a beer but not got round to it yet.

Good to know it's still there Lefkas, there used to be a one armed pianist who was compare at the club, very similar type to Colin Crompton.
We had some good nights performing in the Mermaid, they used allow the Skeggy and Louth rockabillies in there.
Great times and very fond memories too.
