There is some truth in that.

I love watching the Polish forward (even though the bastard makes a habit of scoring against Stuttgart) but he’s 34 now, and although he’s in superb condition, he’s got maybe three seasons at the top left in him.

That’s a lot of money for three seasons.

(That said, watch him do a Zlatan and play until he‘s 40!)
La liga needs superstars because the English product blows it out the water without.

Ive always rated him but he should have come to England if he really wanted to be discussed as one of the greatest.

From the „Christ I feel old“ department; the 16-year old son of former German international Kevin Kuriyani, Karlo, has joined the U-19 team of VfB:

Lothar Matthäus, on Sky Sport News DE, is suggesting that FC Bayern - should they sell Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona - should sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Man U as a short-term replacement.

The thing with Lothar is you never know when he’s being serious or on a massive wind-up, especially when it comes to Bayern.

I’ve just seen here that the rumour is Bayern are looking at Osimhen from Napoli.

Barcelona's problem were not in that position last season. that's why i cannot understand this move. the only explanation is that they need a star player as a club and they have to pay for this.

however, they had serious problems in defense and in the center of midfield.

losing also Dembele will be a huge problem, because he was crucial after Xavi came in.

Dortmund made a great signing in Adeyemi as a replacement of Haaland.

A fans' group said the match should be cancelled as Newcastle was a "vehicle for asserting the interests of a regime that tramples on human rights".

Good to see people reminding them of what they've become.

Apologies if I missed a thread on this already, but do any on here watch any Olympiacos games if Forest are not playing? Forest is my number one, but tbh do periodically check in to see how Olympiacos is doing.

Just curious.

good coach but unproven in the CL level where they want to focus. furthermore he doesn't look like the right person to control all these prima donnas they have on board. strange choice

Not that I have much time for FC Bayern (as regular readers will attest) but they’ve done an impressive job, trolling FC Barcelona over the proposed transfer of Robert Lewandowski:

„Bayern Munich have told FC Barcelona they don’t want any installments in any deal for Robert Lewandowski and that they want all the money upfront in cash because Bayern believes that FC Barcelona won’t exist in “one or two years time”

(via Rafa Hönigstein, The Athletic)

Rafa is a fair pundit/journalist but that is brutal 😂,

I’d imagine relations will be slightly strained now 🤔

Football ultras stormed the press conference unveiling of their new manager this week in support of former Real Madrid, Barcelona and Portsmouth midfielder Robert Prosinecki following his surprise sacking last week.

Chaos ensued when Slovenian outfit NK Olimpija Ljubljana announced the appointment of former Manchester City, Liverpool and Watford defender Albert Riera in his first managerial role.

The dissatisfaction was more to do with the way his predecessor was ousted rather than the arrival of the Spaniard - who was met by their Green Dragon ultras and forced to leave the room.

Mbappe is in charge at that club. They could hire a labrador as manager and it wouldn’t make a difference.

A Strummer related piece of transfer business. Stuttgart just bought Juan José Perea from Greek club PAS Giannina (20% of the 2,4m will go to Panathinaikos, who had a sell-on clause). The young forward is a classic case of "one club's trash is another club's diamond". He was signed by Panathinaikos for free (and paid peanuts) in 2019. He did nothing there, and was often ridiculed by their fans for being ineffective and, basically, not knowing football and running around like a headless chicken. A loan to another Greek club did not help. He was released last summer, and went to PAS Giannina where, strangely enough, immediately became their best player, with 10 goals and 3 assists and, more importantly, was a constant threat to every defence (including ours).

Yeah, I was just about to post this; it’s a really interesting signing, but the VfB have before plucked young lads form perceived mediocrity and polished them into real good players.

Sporting Director Sven Mislintat is the man in charge of transfers, and he’s clearly seen something in the young Colombian.

Juan José Perea an der Angel; cracking name too!

Oh, and to answer any „why would a random Colombian want to play for Stuttgart?“ questions…

Well, here he is, as a young boy. I am sure you can guess where he’s standing:
