That Speed bloke knows nothing about football, nor can he play football at all. It boggles my mind how he seems to be everywhere football-related. What exactly does he bring to the table? What a world
I am personally not interested in his content, thing is he has 40 million subscribers, thats a lot of people watching him and that makes him great too advertise other stuff.

Drogheda officially booted from the Conference League due to multiownership stuff.

Bodes well for Forest as sets a precedent and UEFA would have some explaining to do if they then allow Palace to play.

Well the 2nd part of that is where their place has gone.

There's no guarantee that if they boot Palace from the Europa that their place will go to us.

Awkward because they were supposed to buy Danilo and Turner but we can pick apart their squad, decent team them.

Is Lyon’s place in the Europa League still secure?
Probably means they won't be in and that Palace will, more likely than anything else anyway

Just posted this on the Conf League thread but will repeat here as its being discussed

Not sure what's going on now - the Times story reckons that the Uefa wording is clear and states: “To ensure the integrity of the Uefa club competitions, the club must be able to prove that as at 1 March 2025 the… multi-club ownership criteria were met and the club must continue to comply with the criteria from that date until the end of the competition season.”

This could still get messy if Palace are allowed in the Europa without UEFA showing their working out of how Palace can have possibly met the above, which on the basis of using a Blind Trust they clearly didn't, and we did. The only way round it will have to be, to my mind, that they accept Palace's contention that while Textor did have 43% of the shares (which is over their automatic threshold of a minimum 30% ownership) he only had 25% of the votes along with the other 3, with Paris still having the casting vote, and that doesn't constitute a controlling influence.

I think it still leaves the door wide open for EM to take it to CAS. My understanding is that Lyon's relegation doesn't matter a hill of beans as they haven't expunged Lyon's record in the league. The punishment for their financial issues and debt is straight relegation, not a points deduction so does not affect their finishing position, which was above Palace's and should not affect their Europa League place. Nor does Textor selling his shares as the crucial bit remains did they comply with the rules above at the time. It appears not.

I heard an interesting view on it that UEFA will allow Palace in knowing that Forest will go to CAS.

They know that CAS will likely rule in Forest’s favour so can turn round and say “it wasn’t us that done it guv we let you in but CAS are independent so have a pop at them” to try and save face.

I heard similar.
What I read was that - they don't want to kick Palace out - because Palace would take them to CAS. There would then be major interrogation of the EUFA multi-club rule - which could unravel and have a major affect on multiple clubs around Europe, including City, United, Chelsea, all the RB clubs & little old Forest.

Never mind all that nonsense, Modric to sign for Milan! That Fabrizio said so.

If Lyon have been relegated, does that mean Strasbourg get the Euro place? That would get UEFA off the hook.
Not as I see it - as it's not a points deduction it's just a straight relegation for rule breaking so their League position last season is unchanged?

Could be wrong though.

I have listened to a 'French football expert' this morning on Talksport - Lyon have already appealed their relegation.
Although they have a lot of debt, they have never missed any payments to any staff or to other clubs they have bought players off.
Textor is waiting for his money from Palace to put into the club. It seems this will all be sorted imminently and Lyon will regain their place in Ligue 1 and so far they have not been booted out of the Europa League and are not expected to be.

It's highly unlikely that it would effect their European place. This happened after the season concluded and it's a straight relegation not a points deduction.

There's a chance that if Textor can get the funds from his Palace sale or the fees from our purchase of the Botafogo players that they could be reinstated anyway. The relegation is provisional as it stands.
