Failing at international level, a one team league, and desperate to hoover up young English talent because they recognise that their coaching is inferior.

Auf Wiedersehen Germany.

Equalised at home to Northern Ireland. Statement of intent.

3-1 now, to Die Mannschaft if you’re still watching?

It’s a decent match, all Germany at the moment, with 78% of possession and they’re pinging it about so that NI can’t get a sniff.

And Serge Gnabry makes it Four!

It’s a Hat-Trick for the Bayern man, superbly played in by Julian Brandt.

Not Gnabry. I remember him. He was the guy who wasn't good enough for West Brom. The other bloke?

And why are they playing in my Dad's pyjamas?

Julian Brandt? Borussia Dortmund, formerly at Leverkusen. Attacking Midfield player, good passer and a lovely final ball in him.

Oh and Leon Goretzka makes it 5-1.

It’s turned into a bit of a drubbing.

Edit: Brandt is 23 (I had to check).

Another interesting stat: apart from goalie Marc-André ter Stegen who is 27, and Toni Kroos and Jonas Hector who are both 29, the rest of that Germany side is under 25.

Julian Brandt makes it Six!

One for Danny Baker‘s Right Hammerings in Frankfurt tonight.

No.

Die Mannschaft makes Harvey titter, and I don’t like tittering.

In fact, I don’t like any English seaside towns.

Demise of Die Mannschaft

Remember when Germany were still good at football? Me neither.

Languishing in div two of European football along with Scotland, Wales, Austria, Bulgaria, Norway, Hungary, Israel...

Here's the alliteratively titled thread in which to discuss this downward trajectory.

Have the qualified? Is there a chance they will join our Euros Group by being drawn from the minnows pot?

Group-Winners, no less.

As to which Germany will show up at the finals; the youthful, slick, energetic, free-scoring passing team, or the stodgy, predictable, lethargic, dour defensive side, well, who knows.

„Jogi“ Löw will hope it’s the former; the major conundrum between now and next year will be who plays in Central-Defence: sort that partnership, and the rest is pretty much settled.

Easybeats at tennis too. Is there any sport they're good at?
