Most of that is city though and I think most people agree something serious should be done about the 115 charges but sadly it seems nothing ever will.

Man U seem to have had loads of VAR assistance but it's only got them into 3rd. They would definitely be a lot lower down without that though.

The promotion issue was because Southampton broke the rules. If Hull win it won't have had an impact really, other than who they beat to go up, and the question would probably always remain about whether they would have beaten Boro. But they broke the rules, admitted to it, and to be fair it was the right punishment, the EFL got that one right.

As for Arsenal, yes VAR has got them plenty of assistance for fouling at corners etc when they should have been stopped, they need to change that rule about there not being able to be a foul unless the ball is in play but if it's not in the rules teams will exploit it. They seem to have found a way (with Rice's delivery and having a lot of good headers in the side) to perfect Pulis and Dyche's corner routines - it may be boring but it's effective and if that's what it takes to stop fc115 winning the league then let's have it...

I am pleased that City didn't win the treble. I don't begrudge Arsenal winning the title. I seem to remember that they had an 'austerity' policy of transfers when they built the Emirates so in some respects they did things the right way. Are they also still wearing the shirts that we gave them?

Yes Nicola, The Lambs were a notorious Meadows-based street-gang of the late-19th/early-20th centuries which were rivals of other gangs around the inner-city areas (not to be confused with the Nottingham Lambs, which was a collection of politically-motivated - sometimes violent - agitators). The current post-code gang culture isn't as modern as many may believe.

When I first started following us in the late-fifties, Strummer is right that "Foresters" was quite common, particularly in print if not so much verbally.

I remember us being referred to as the Foresters in print in the 1960s.

Pretty sure I’ve seen that in programmes, magazine articles, etc, from that era. Going back a bit further, there’s a series of reprints of collector’s cards (originally probably cigarette cards) from the inter-war years on football clubs’ nicknames and the Forest one depicts a forester in Robin Hood-style Lincoln green, carrying an axe.

I think that when comics and football magazines etc printed club nicknames back in the 60's Forest's was always given as the Foresters.

And of course there was a Supporters’ Club magazine called The Forester. I have one from the post-war years and one from 1967 but am not aware of others, so it must’ve been a very short-lived publication in both eras!

My Dad, RIP, supported Forest from the early 1930's, an it used to boil his piss when the media changed and started calling us "The Tricky Trees".
We were always the Foresters to him, right from his boyhood.
He even used to bridle at "The Reds", which he always said was the Liverpool nickname.
I have to confess I find "The Tricky Trees" milk-curdlingly vile.
For me, much to Dad's displeasure when he was alive, we have always been, and will always be "The Reds".
Liverpool and other pretenders to "The Reds" nickname can sling their hooks.

I quite agree about the Reds. It always grates when I see other clubs referred to as the Reds, but particularly when it’s in the context of Forest games against Liverpool. In the pre-internet days when you got snippets of football news from Ceefax I hated it when I saw a headline like “Reds eye striker bid”, put in the page number and waited for the page to load, only to discover it was some other team that adopted Red after we did (ie any professional team in the world that wears red).

I’m a bit “meh” about the Tricky Trees, but the one I really don’t like is Red Dogs, which to me is just, well, crap. I used to love Matt Forde’s Forest podcast but still the thought the name was cringingly bad.

Turns out it must be from the 1950s originally as on the back it mentions our 1951 Div 3 (S) title but only the 1898 FA Cup win.

Yes, the photos I included are of my own copies, though I didn’t pay anything like the best part of 30 quid for the 1967 one! I might have got it from Peter Tozer, the long-time programme columnist and for quite a few years a dealer in Forest programmes. When I started collecting Forest programmes in the mid-late 70s I used to save up and buy programmes from him a season at a time going back as far as he had stock, ie to the early 60s. Having been born in the early 60s there was a time when I was only missing 1 or 2 home league programmes and a handful of always from my then lifetime. I got a few handbooks and Post Football Guides from Peter at the same time, so the 1967 might well have been from him. I think I bought the earlier one much more recently, probably online. (When you’re my age, by ‘recently’ you tend to mean ‘in the last 20 or 30 years’…)

I vaguely recall a headline headline in the Football Post or the Derby Evening Telegraph from the late sixies/early seventies along the lines of "Yoiks, Tally Ho. The Foxes Beat the Foresters" after Leicester beat us. I think it was coupled with a picture of a fox hunting group in a forest clearing. I haven't managed to come across it yet in searches though, which might suggest it was in the Telegraph as it's not available in the BNA online papers yet.

There was a Jack Brentnall music shop on Mansfield Road in Sherwood - I got some of the first singles I ever bought from there. As I recall it was a ‘proper’ music shop selling instruments, sheet music and the like, plus a few records. My brother and I were very much into T Rex and Slade at the time and I remember repeatedly going in there and puzzling the staff by asking for a new T Rex single called Jasper C Debussy that a pop magazine (Disc, perhaps?) had said was due to be released. I don’t think it ever came out…

And of course the Post Football Guides used to cover all the East Midlands teams, with a cartoon caricature for each, based on their nicknames. We did indeed have a Forester, there was a Magpie, a Stag, a Ram, a Spireite, a Posh gentleman, a Lincoln imp, and so on.

I wasn't suggesting that you had. I thought that you might be interested though in seeing what it's being priced at though.

There was a guy in the town where I live who claimed to have a large collection of magazines. I never quite plucked up the courage to ask him if he'd let me borrow them to scan and turn into pdfs. I did realise that if I did that though I woudn't have the time to do the newspaper transcribing I've been doing so it was probably best that I didn't.

That was his shop..

I have Jasper C. Debussy on a Marc Bolan cd.

It looks like it was released in 1972 if you look at Bolan's Discography.

The cd I have is The Beginning of Doves from 1974 which I think is a collection of songs from pre-Trex as they are more hippy style than the the rock tracks.
