The ‘I have something to say about Forest that doesn’t warrant its own thread’ Thread

Didn't he basically score with his arse against someone when the goalie kicked it against it and it bounced back and went in?
That was Robert Earnshaw mate, away at Reading in 2011 (unless „Tys“ had a similar one I’ve forgotten!)

Probably in the minority and I know that this is going to be incredibly unpopular on here, but I'm finding it a bit hard not to feel a bit deflated about Forest at the moment.

Feels like barely anyone in the media has a good word to say about us, and there seems to be a big increase in negativity amongst a fair amount of our fans (today's latest transfer collapse hasn't helped).

I'm under no illusions that the Premier League was always going to be tough, but it just feels to me like a lot of the positivity and feel good factor since Wembley has gone. The club definitely feels like it needs something to give it a much needed lift IMO.

Problem was that there was no way the vibe could have been any more positive after the way last season panned out. There was always going to be a drop.

We will lose more than we win this season and hopefully settle into a new norm that doesn't include Championship football. We all knew Saturday would be tough, but I don't think anyone expected us to look so far out of depth.

It'll all be forgotten if we put in a good showing against West Ham.

There was always going to be a drop off from Wembley of course, but there just seems to be an endless torrent of negativity towards the club (not necessarily on here) which has gotten even worse after the Newcastle game. I just hope this negativity doesn't seep into the crowd on Sunday, though I fear it will if we don't get a positive result.

It's a difficult time, certainly. As Cooper has been at pains to emphasize though, rebuilding the squad was literally the only option given the players who left - either on loan or through contract expiry. And we're in the phase of taking the backwards step, so that we can take some forwards ones.
To me though, this isn't like our previous squad builds that were characterised by scatter-gun recruitment and short-term thinking. This is being done to a plan, everyone that matters is on board with the plan and we just need some patience whilst it plays out. The media don't see the plan - they just see a bunch of money being sloshed around. So f*** 'em. The fans who don't see the plan - they don't have the brains of Cooper and Murphy, so let them moan.

Tyson did it against a Paul Lambert Norwich side, think we ended up getting beaten 3-1 or something that night.
Ah thanks Viktor; I fondly remember the Reading match as it’s one I attended. Didn’t know about Nathan‘s display against Naaarch.

I think it's just the come down period following last seasons highs, we all knew this season was going to be difficult but it's been such a surreal past year that our return to reality was always going to be rough. It's like we got sucked into a parallel universe 7 games into last season, drifted off with the fairies and have now been spat back into reality with a thud and a currently unsatisfied craving for more success

In my opinion it's all part of the charm when it comes to being emotionally invested in anything, especially something as volatile as a football club. You need the contrast of highs and lows to truly appreciate anything

Obviously I want us to be successful in everything we do but the rational part of me accepts that there's going to be a lot more bad than good, and that's ok (as long as the club remains in good health)

We've had 2 decades of shit for the most part and to finally accomplish something of note was long overdue. That final whistle at Wembley and the scenes following were surreal, like nothing i've experienced before and probably something i'll never experience again.

Those are the moments that remind you why you stick with your team through years, or even decades of mediocrity. When the success does come it comes twice as sweet and no sky sports knob, twitter teenager or irrelevant journo #5000 talking bollocks about us should take that away from us

It's memorable for me, only because a mate came straight from working at Homebase. I made a joke about an E falling off the back of his uniform and he shit himself, every now and then someone refers to him 'Hom-bas'.

We thought it was funny, honest.

Shit just got real.

Fans wanted a stable solution to future problems 2 weeks ago. Yet its still on going.

Some of the puzzle looks really expensive and is outside of people's expectations and comfort zone.

The whole context of being in the EPL is new experience for everyone. Even us oldies, 23 in EPL years is a long, long time ago.

The heroin high of winning promotion is a different feeling to the come down of reality.

It may take a few weeks to get an even keel. Or it maybe turbulent till June.

That's football folks!

I still feel good - anyone who seriously thought we were going to hit the ground running with the squad we had to start the season with, given the number of new faces and lack of depth, was overenthusiastic at best.

It's going to be a long season - I'm looking forward to seeing the side gel together and improve, hopefully shutting up a few folk and surprising some others along the way. Sure it will be tough, as Saturday was, but it's exactly what we've been after all these years.

A club of our stature should be in the top flight, and we are going to have a good go at cementing that status. Enjoy it.

Didn't know where else to post this so this thread seems apt,

Was having a discussion in the pub with a big group, supporters of various teams, we were picking our favourite badges in football and nearly all of them agreed that they thought Forest had the best badge!

I never really thought about how it stacked up compared to other clubs but I really am grateful we have such a good badge compared to other clubs

I'm sure Luke "hides in the dressing room" Chambers did that against someone like Boro in am early round of the league cup back in the dark days

It was a backheel I think sadly. Would have been better if it was his arse as I had my Boro mate with me at the time!

Forgot about player faces.

That's in addition to the City Ground being on FIFA next year as well, which will be surreal to see!
