Yes, Porto! Steve may have had this answer in mind I suspect, unless he had thought Sporting Lisbon could be in with a chance maybe....(they are 16th on the list).

Hurrah! I like this game but it seems pretty tricky to manage everyone’s guesses. Feels like I did a bit of unintentional goal hanging there.

Sorry, I meant 10th place would have been a two-way tie without Charity Shield goals counting. With them counting then 11th place is a two-way tie instead though.

And I can add that two players would be on 12 goals, meaning that even without Charity Shield goals and without any players from over 100 years ago Storey-Moore doesn't quite make a top 10 on that basis either (he has 10 goals, all FA Cup). I pretty much ruled them out for the main list with other clues anyway, so I'll confirm those two on 12 goals are Steve Hodge (8 League Cup goals, 2 FA Cup, 2 Full Members Cup) and Neil Webb (5 League Cup, 4 FA Cup, 3 Full Members Cup).

Woan is on 8 goals, Francis 5, Reid 4, and Grabban only 2 actually!

I could have added that Garry Parker and Lee Chapman are on 12 too (not just Hodge and Webb). I knew it earlier but forgot to mention them.

Everyone in the top ten has 15 or more top level domestic cup goals anyway.

Just gonna log off myself and watch a Question of Sport, so we'll be back after the forum update tomorrow or Sunday I guess...but you got one more (Woodcock - 22 goals). O'Neill is the one who'd be on 13 with Charity Shield goals allowed, and Wilson is the one who'd be on 14 with Charity Shield goals allowed!

Ardron doesn't actually have any in the FA Cup - I was surprised to find that out! I just checked Withe again (I'd verified he wasn't in the top 10 earlier but forgot his total) - he has 8, or it'd be 9 with Charity Shield goals allowed.

Nice to see the forum is back online and updated fine by the looks of it! I've had a switch from Ian Storey-Moore to Jack Armstrong I see - one of the Forest players in the top 10 is similarly obscure, or lesser known I reckon, but like I say there was a Snooker player with the same name but more fame!

I'll leave the Forest question open a bit longer, but do a breakdown of the European competition goals now then, as follows (these are the ones I calculated the numbers for)
Real Madrid 1180
Barcelona 1031
Bayern Munich 1015
Juventus 801
Liverpool 704
Ajax 690
Manchester United 671
Benfica 668
AC Milan 604
Porto 601
(and outside the top 10....)
Inter Milan 584
Anderlecht 566
Arsenal 558
Atletico Madrid 545
PSV Eindhoven 530
Sporting Lisbon 524
Chelsea 500
Tottenham Hotspur 487
Celtic 481
Dynamo Kyiv 474
Valencia 473
Roma 469
Rangers 442
Borussia Dortmund 435
Paris St Germain 412
Red Star Belgrade 407
Feyenoord 405
Club Brugge 401
Rapid Vienna 346
Sevilla 328
Lazio 326
Werder Bremen 324
Marseille 324
Manchester City 318
Steaua Bucharest 302
Napoli 299
Monaco 276
Bordeaux 269
Fiorentina 264
Leeds United 244
Ferencvaros 220
Parma 166
Honved 131
Sampdoria 103

Forest have got 61, with just over half (32) in the European Cup (and are still top 20 to 25 for main trophy wins if I remember correctly with the two European Cups, and a Super Cup too!).

I'm pretty sure I didn't miss any clubs that could challenge for the top 10, but Olympiacos might be one of the ones that could possibly get close to 400, or at least slot in ahead of Man City too (I think this applies to Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, Spartak Moscow, but it'd be a matter of deducting goals in preliminary/qualifying rounds, and there weren't pages that would make it really quick and easy so I deleted those off my spreadsheet in the end, and I deleted a few others that I'd had on there but surely can't have scored enough to be near the top 10 - Gothenburg and Hamburg who might have getting in the region of 250 I think possibly, and Nantes of France and Ujpest of Hungary who don't have a lot in the European Cup but I think their totals might be pretty high overall but again wouldn't have been really quick and easy to work out). So it's not a complete list, but I think it's quite likely the top 25 is correct (ending at PSG), maybe the top 28 (ending at Club Brugge with just over 400 goals counting).

I thought I'd try to attach those files again (though Woodcock has been added to the Forest list now, above Bowyer, and Porto have been confirmed as the 10th club)

Ok, I'll get the results posted up now....

Nicola (I'm Red Till Dead) takes the win on the Euro clubs question, & would be in a position to have one final guess to complete the 10 teams, after just one incorrect guess so far (but I may have given her a clue, after she'd posted her 10, with a comment by private message anyway!)

Steve got all the way to his 10th guess, but Arsenal cost him his second life!

Dan successfully got his 5 answers (so would make it through the round in reality, and take a thousand pounds through if it was the real show of course).

By my calculations (according to the valid goals I'm counting which includes Fairs Cup goals from 65-65 to 70-71 when qualification was achieved via league positions, as well as the first Super Cup, but not Intertoto Cup which UEFA count as goals in their competitions...like they do with the Intercontinental Cup actually but that's 50% South American so doesn't count here), Inter Milan are 11th on the list with 584 goals (253 of them in the European Cup/Champions League excluding preliminary/qualification matches), and Arsenal are 13th on the list with 558 (322 European Cup/Champions League ones).

For the Forest question you did well enough to get through the round with a thousand pounds (if you were on the show) without any help from team-mates Steve, because five of your top 6 answers were correct! But then your 7th guess (as well as 8th, 9th and 10th) wasn't!

So we're looking for one European club, and five more Forest cup scorers (I included the Charity Shield in the end otherwise 10th place would have been a 3-way tie, but have a guess at those that would have been joint 10th in that case too if you like...one Steve has mentioned already, while another one he mentioned is on the main list - so with that clue it's probably just a matter of guessing which one is which!).

Four of the Forest scorers are from quite a few years ago (one of them could have been seen on the pitch by some forum members though)! Maybe even that is not enough of a clue for one player in particular...and you might be better off just guessing names of Snooker players (you might get that answer quicker doing that!)

Clough is correct (29 top level domestic cup goals), as are Robertson (27), Pearce (25), Bowyer (21) and Birtles (17).View attachment 13915
Try attaching now the upgrade has gone through. (Edit: I see you did)

Of the oldies probably the best bets I can think of are the magnificent Sam Weller Widdowson, Tinsley Lindley, Fred Forman, and Grenville Morris, but if you say one of them members might remember it's likely to be the member of the '59 team we spoke about when I thought we were talking all time competive goal scorers (I won't mention who). That also means one of my early four must be wrong. Sam?

Sorry my fault, didn’t read the 100 years ago comment properly.
How about Johnny Dent? He got a fair few goals just didn’t think we had many good cup runs around that time.

You got them all now between you!

Alex 'Sandy' Higgins indeed

And yes, Grenville Morris, Sam Widdowson and Tinsley Lindley too (Nicola already named the last two last night, and in effect corrected my mistake of overlooking Lindley at first glance like I said).

Fred Forman got a decent number in the FA Cup too (6, so he's tied with Kingsley Black, and quite a few others probably, overall for the cup goals! - edit: Frank Forman having one less FA Cup goal so tied on 5 with Trevor Francis, Joe Baker et al - Roy Dwight, 1959 Cup Final hero, is another tied with Fred on 6), and Dent has a lot of Forest goals overall. This is the great source that shows the overall list, and each name can be clicked on to get further details from there

I think this is basically the list (excluding Charity Shield....which is a Shield not a Cup after all), at the top end, from 29 goals to 10 (it's possible I forgot some others who got 10 or 11 too, but I tend to think not):
Nigel Clough (29)
John Robertson (26)
Stuart Pearce (25)
Tony Woodcock (22)
Ian Bowyer (21)
Alex Higgins & Sam Widdowson (19)
Garry Birtles & Grenville Morris (17)
Tinsley Lindley (15)
Gary Crosby (with just over half his Forest goals in cup games!) & Tommy Wilson (13)
Lee Chapman, Steve Hodge, Garry Parker & Neil Webb (12)
Roy Keane, Martin O'Neill (11)
Ian Storey-Moore (10)

On a similar number to Withe and Woan, a bit ahead of Francis and Reid, some other relatively recent players include Collymore, Jemson, Scot Gemmill....

Just wanted to say that it's Alex "Sandy" Higgins snr. His son also played for us and was known by the same name and nickname I believe.

Thanks Kjetil, good fun
You're welcome.

I was considering adding you just can't get enough (of the questions, or just can't quite get enough of the answers lol, even though you did get them with Nicola's help and the odd clue and like I said your original answers were easily good enough to get through a real round of Tenable if you'd not been too ambitious, or at least stopped after one wrong guess!) as a topical comment, but I'll just take advantage of the new forum's capabilities and post the song instead!

Who knows, maybe soon some new answers will appear in the top 10 Forest scorers in cups list and Tinsley really will be replaced in it, but I guess equally we'd take doing well enough quite soon in the league to enter the Europa League and starting to make inroads into the totals of a few clubs above us in the European competition scoring list!
