Summer 26 Transfer Window

So it looks like Arsenal are after Rogers and Kroupi, but the list of potential outgoings also has some interesting names:

No chance of us getting Martinelli or Trossard, but Nwaneri, Norgaard, White, Vieira or Nelson could be interesting.
What I'd say is more pertinent there is that Arsenal want Rogers. It's guaranteed Villa come after Gibbs-White as a replacement (improvement) I reckon.

I'd be happy for Forest to pay an ungodly amount for Nwaneri. He's a special talent. Even 50m would be acceptable because he'd sell for 80m in a few years time.

I imagine Dortmund and the like would be all over it though, so I can't see it happening. But who knows.

Is Nwaneri really that good or the potential to be? Had disappointing loan spell at Marseille, though still a teen at 19.
Not sure would want any Arsenal rejects, they do seem to always disappoint...

End of season review Meetings taking place in Athens this week, They won’t replace Wilson as Syrianos has now taken up a similar role.
Acceptance that Anderson will leave and possibly even before the WC starts. Forest want £110m plus.
Priority would be a direct replacement for Anderson. None of the players we tried for in January were replacements for Ando.
Syrianos, Ferreira, Pereira and Marinakis will have a say in recruitment, Pereira will say what positions he wants and Syrianos and Ferreira will find targets for Pereira to choose from.
Pereira wants new players in early so he has the whole pre season with his starting 11.
We have money to spend but no repeats of last summer.

None of that comes as a surprise at all.

I'm inferring from the last line though that we may struggle to move on some of the players we bought last year that are perhaps are bomb squad now (Ndoye primary example).

One thing I would like to know is how our scouting of the Brazilian market is going? Obviously we lost Federspiel to Newcastle last year who was very well regarded. I'm not even sure we backfilled him?

I've been following him for years now, in the England setup at least. With proper game time he's eventually a 15 goal scorer in the Prem. Unbelievable instincts.

Arsenal would be idiots to sell him just because of pure profit. I wouldn't lump him into some sort of reject category.

I’d imagine VPs new contract will land this week as well then….

Will be very interesting to what they do with replacing the Anderson role.

They did say some fringe players will also leave. Looking on transfermarkt it says a Brazilian scout called Renato Rodriguez joined at the start of the year.

Most probably, "Athens" = Oly FC HQs in Piraeus, followed by a fancy seafood lunch in Mikrolimano, a 10-minute walk from the HQs.
So, we are indeed going forward with VP? To me, that's good news.

Great spot. I know nothing about him, is there anything you've found about what he's done previously, big signings he's been involved in?

Not for me.

I think we'd have to overpay, and I don't think he's the right sort of profile for us either - we rely on power and physicality in the central areas and Jones despite being nippy just isn't that player.
I just think we need something different in there Maxi. Someone that can dribble and move at speed to open things up a little bit more offensively from midfield.

I agree that the fee could be a sticking point, I've got no idea what Liverpool would want but if we could get him for £40M that would be decent value I believe.

My dad's a Liverpool fan (I know 😖) and he doesn't rate Jones much - offers very little defensively. He's no Anderson replacement.

He's not a like-for-like replacement for any player we have. If he did join, he'd play alongside Sangare but Sangare would suddenly get tasked with being the deepest CM and needing to cover a lot of defensive positions he doesn't currently.

I think Norgaard would be a good signing at the right price.

You also have to feel they will look to move him on this summer. 7 appearances with 6 as a sub think they only paid £10m he is 33 next year.

Has EPL experience they will likely sell him if they get there money back i feel. As a low cost safe option worth considering. Might even be able to get them to take £6-8 million for him.

I know it’s a very unpopular view, but I could see us going for Rico Lewis for that role. He’s takes the ball in tight areas, surprisingly strong, technically sound, and can turn, drop a shoulder and drive forward. Picks a good pass out too.

Plus you get the added versatility at fullback, and wingback.

And finally, us being able to get a direct replacement for Anderson is virtually impossible. We aren’t getting a player of that calibre in, I’ll take someone with a decent PL background and potential.

Yeah but if he replaced Anderson in our usual 4231 that would leave us very exposed out of possession.

My main worry with the Lewis/Jones suggestions is that neither of them are ball winners.

Sangare isn't much of a ball winner either.

I'd rather prioritise a defensively sound CM to play alongside Sangare than someone who is neat on the ball, if we can't get the full package ala Anderson.

I rate Lewis significantly more than Jones, think he has better defensive qualities too.

Also, having a defensively minded CM alongside one of our other CMs really does negate our threat getting forward, especially with a lack of quality out wide at the minute.

Few pieces needed depending on how VP wants to go. Maybe 3 at the back is the way.

I agree. Given that we need more cover at RB (IMO) and we’ll obviously be weaker in midfield, I can see Lewis heading to us as Anderson goes the other way.

It will be interesting to see what the club spends. Assume £100m in for Anderson, but with the annual operating loss of (I think?) about £70m I’ve no idea how much of this will be reinvested. We’ll need to get below the squad cost ratio target.

As my drum goes, I'd be addressing the wide forward areas as well as the central midfield Anderson backfill.

I agree Lewis is better defensively than Jones, but he's still another small diminutive player and every single one of those players we signed in the last 12 months struggled since joining. Reality PL is super physical and Lewis has avoided scrutiny in that regard because he's played for a team which constantly has the ball.

I'd be nervous if it was a big fee.
