Summer 26 Transfer Window

He refused the move to Hoffenheim apparently, refused to sign a contract to take him past the end of this season in Ireland, which meant that he'd be free to leave. Shamrock and St.Pats get 180k (Euros) each training comp...
I thought it would be less than that.

Apparently training compensation starts at 12, so there's 6 or 7 years worth for us to pay. For calendar years of the player's 12th to 15th birthdays, compensation is always calculated using UEFA Category 4 costs, regardless of the buying club's category. So that's 10k euros a year, Total 40k euros (mostly to St Pats I think, possibly some to Crumlin Utd).

Then after that, calendar year in which he turned 16, 17 and 18 depends on the buying club's category. If we assume as a PL club we are Category 1, that's 90k euros a year, mostly to Shamrock Rovers. Earlier I forgot the calendar year in which he turned 18, so that's 270k euros. Plus the 40k euros above, my rough calculation is we will be paying around 310k euros in total for him, probably to 3 different clubs. That's 270k in Great British Pounds.

No sell-on fee either, which could be worth a decent amount if he progresses. Of course it's possible we might have approached Shamrock Rovers and done a deal with them directly which might be why we have won the race for him, as he is a Shamrock Rovers fans I believe.

Either way, this is cheap as chips for us and given the amount of first team football he has already played, seems like a no-brainer for Forest.

I'd like to see us do some sort of tie-up with an Irish club. Since Brexit, English clubs have to wait until players are 18 before bringing them over. I can't believe more PL clubs haven't bought an Irish club to snap up Irish kids at 14-17 like they all used to, park them at a League of Ireland club until they are 18, then bring them over. I originally wrote "no PL club" but apparently the Hull chap has bought Shelbourne.

A lot of young Irish kids are going to Italy at 16 now, for example. It's an area where we have always traditionally recruited and seems pretty low cost to have a base in the country to steal a march on rivals for young Irish talent.

Looks like the NY Times / Athletic have finally figured out a way to stop pages showing with JavaScript disabled. Was a nice workaround while it lasted. Any other workarounds welcome - I'm not giving them any money.
