Summer 26 Transfer Window

The athletic has a story from yesterday that ranked our window 8th/20. Subjective I know but interesting to see how others see it.

Should the Transfer sub forum “slam shut” at the same time as the transfer window?

We could have a countdown and our very own Jim White (auditions to be held).

Im not that bothered about this thread.

I can't stand a new Jan Transfer thread starting far too early.

Those tubs of chocolates for Christmas are already in the supermarkets, Christmas Menus for Christmas Parties, next month Easter eggs.

We are better than this..maybe a scouting thread but not another of more angst.

Anyway heres a picture of something relevent to all these transfer threads.

Texan bars. They were great. Always lost a lot of chocolate when eating them though.

Absolutely just corporate bullshit to say "Well, we've kept our powder dry for January."
We all know that any mid season signings come at a huge premium it they are available at all.
Except from Brazil, where it's the end of their season and prying players away is actually easier. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we don't dip back in there for the Andre lad, or even to bring Danilo back. That's the market where value is to be had in January in my opinion.

it’s a good transfer window for a foundation of a squad. I think the bone of contention comes is that some Forest fans have finishing 8th and in Europe. Against those who thinks the window is decent enough but no way near enough for a top half finish. We got our signings far too late and now have to have a pre season effectively after pre season plus we are missing quality in midfield and backup centre backs.

I love who’ve got in just it’s no way near enough and early enough to get us to where we want to be and you can see how disjointed we are.

We have made good signings for sure but all these reviews of our transfer window tend to omit that we have sold one of our best players of the modern era. So it was essential we made good signings just to stand still.

I can't believe we or others haven't made an approach for Breno Bidon from Corinthians.

He looks insanely talented. Most Brazilians were amazed that there was interest in Andre over him.

Have a Google......

Must take a special kind of person to endure the punishment meted out by Mr Marinakis

Touted that one...

Feels like we've sort of lost our edge in the Brazilian market since Federspieler or whatever his name was left.
Most certainly. I'm not saying some of these players won't come good, but look at the players we signed in that Coops-Nuno era - Murilló, Wood, Elanga, Anderson, Milinković, Sells etc... most relatively cheap or modest signings, and yet they were all genuinely good Premiership players.

Last year wasn't a patch on that, but we spent a lot more.

One of Marinakis's biggest weaknesses is that he can't seem to value/hold on to people doing well. You've only got to look at how few academy products we've produced since Gary Brazil's left.

TBH I don't follow it that closely but our recruitment team seems to be constantly in flux, even when they are doing really well.
Can't we just hire good people and keep them?

Federspiel went to Newcastle when the PIF were chucking money at them so you can probably bet they offered him a salary wayyyyy in advance than Forest would be willing to sanction. Probably same thing with Ross Wilson.

I suspect there's also an element of Forest thinking that the key to our success was actually Syrianos, not anyone else. If you go through our list of players that have either become a key part here, have been a really good value signing or have been sold on for big profit, it feels like Syrianos probably had the most influence:

At a guess:

Sels: Syrianos
Williams: Cooper
Milenkovic: Syrianos
Murillo: Marinakis' random mate
Cunha: Federspiel
Niakhate: Syrianos
Aina: Syrianos
Netz: Syrianos
Mangala: Syrianos
Danilo: Federspiel
Anderson: Wilson?
Elanga: Wilson?
Sangare: ?
CHO: Syrianos
Elanga: Syrianos
Wood: ?
Jesus: Federspiel
Awoniyi: Syrianos
