Is Cafu on much? Seems to have the requisite versatility, ability, physically, and attitude to be a good squad member.

No worries Otis.

Twine is the obvious stand-out. Best player in L1. Can play in a front 2, behind a front or wide. Goals, assists, creativity. Jack Rudoni similar but probably less likely to play part of a front 2.

I guess it depends what we looking for.

Ogbenie is a beast of a ball-carrier from wing-back & just got into the Ireland team.

Harry Darling is a ball-carrying CB that could replace Worrall.

Someone is going to take another risk on Cirkin & they are going to get rewarded. All-round technical quality, decent mover & lovely left-foot.

Stewart is more of a target-man CF so probably not on our radar but can see a Champ club going for him.

If we're still at this level next season Bryan, given the fairly-strict recruitment MO, it's not beyond reason that some of the names you mention will be on the radar along with, no doubt, any potential left-field targets.

Surely we will be mixing & matching?
2 or 3 quality PL loanees ( confidence in Coops/Murphy to source the best available ).
A couple of high performing League One youngsters.
And - if Brennan & or Joe off to pastures new - monies in the kitty to buy a couple of quality additions.

Don't think so, probably somewhere in between 5-10k so likely one of our lower earners.

Still think it likely both him and Xande Silva will leave at the end of the season.

It isn't desperate but if we recruit who we want and they get pushed even further back I think both will understand.

I don't think Cafu is a bad player just he doesn't really fit the MO of what we want from our players: tenacity, ability to cover a lot of ground and releasing the ball quickly. He's real only the first of those three things.

Think we'll get a small fee for him, £200k to £500k or so.

Given how well the loanees have been doing in the side, if in the summer we could sign one, and only one of them, who should it be?

Djed or Garner surely.
If we don't get promoted this summer, it'll be a very different first team next season. Can't see any of the loans being renewed and BJ will probably be off.
Saying that we might have 25m to spend wisely

If the loanees go back to their parent clubs, if Prem targets (allegedly) are sold then what we want in the Summer is exactly the same as we always need.

Strong defenders, a wily skilful midfielder and nippy forwards capable of scoring a few, too.

Just shows how good the loans have been this season.

Probably Davis for me, assuming he can remain injury free.

Think Spence might be more easily replaced than people think and I think Colback in for Garner isn't a huge loss.

Having a built striker who is stillful and can carry the ball is like gold dust. We can play so many different ways just by his inclusion.

Think Cafu will go in summer.

To be fair hes contributed next to FA in the last 18 months. You might argue that's because he hasn't been on the pitch but when I see him he looks like a player whose quite happy to pick up a wage and sit on the bench.
I think our central midfield needs an injection of quality and we may as well save on his wages and get someone proper...

Collymore!

Thankyou Steve!
As others have said next season will be a completely different squad.

Released: Agree that Figs, Bong, Jenkinson, Smith, Arter, Ioannou, and Cafu leave. (I think Lolley could be released/mutual too).

Loans: Zink (player won't come back), Lowe (too expensive), Spence (We purchased Laryea). Man U will want Garner to have a different experience. I think the only one we may see again is Davis.

Sold: I see Johnson, and Worrall being sold from the players we wouldn't want to lose. I don't think we'll reinvest this money, this will be used to keep the club going as is the standard.

I don't think we'll give Grabban the contract he wants, and he'll leave - this will leave Taylor staying.

Currently:

Samba
Cook McKenna Panzo
Laryea Yates Ojeda XXXX
XXXX Surridge XXXX

Sub: Hovarth, Colback, Soh, Taylor, Mighten

I don't think we've paid good money for Laryea and Ojeda with them not being viewed as a starting player at some point.

Our big problem is going to be similar to when we lost Cash - a complete change in style again. Without Spence and Johnson, a big part of our game currently disappears too.

If we manage to resign 2 of the loaness I would be very happy

But if you gave me one guarenteed to come back I would pick Garner. For me he is so mature in his game yet still so young. He is showing huge improvements week by week, you could play him in any midfield role for the next 5 years whatever level we end up at. I think of all of them he will go on to play the highest level.

Djed is electric but the question with him could always be can he translate it in a side that plays differently or with less freedom.

I'm afraid your (and I mean member forums, not the club) planning for the summer is too gloomy. Everyone will go, Johnson and Worrall will be sold, ffp will destroy you, and so on.

It is too soon. Those whose job is to plan ahead have already made some moves for the future (Laryea, Ojeda, Surridge), but right now all the club's focus is -as it should be- on promotion.

And no, ffp will not kill you. EM may be an absentee landlord with his son as a caretaker owner, Vrentzos is out of the picture and simply has a look at excel sheets from his Athens abode, but Murphy does not strike me as a CEO who would spend recklessly, and I've been telling you from day one that running the ship aground on a seabed of debt has never been EM's MO. On the day he took over Olympiacos he said his dream is a club that does not need the owner's money (and after, roughly, the first five years, this is indeed what happened), and he said pretty much the same when he bought Forest.

It has been a difficult year financially for all clubs, but, just as some money was available for Murphy / Cooper this January (without Johnson's sale, which everyone thought was a prerequisite simply for the ship to stay afloat), I'm sure some money will be available in the summer.

Ah, and a thing about sales: the right way to sell is not to sell out of desperation, but when crazy surplus value is created by the sale. I thought Johnson's sale was a good idea not because the money was excellent and it was money needed for ffp, but because the suprlus value of the sale (0 --> 22m, this does not happen every day) was spectacular.

I’m probably going to demonstrate to everyone how little I know about football ! Which is ok, because that’s why my only involvement in the game is as a fan !! But, is there no wing back potential with Mighten?

Not for me, bit too light weight and the wing backs need to be able to defend the back post at least a little bit.

He's an out and out wide left player for me, who's only really going to get into the team when we play a 4-2-3-1 (on the left side of the three). If Cooper wants to go with three at the back and wing backs, then Mighten's route into the side is difficult.

I think he'll go out on loan next year.

We're short in wide positions so I can see why we kept him, but I think we'll want an upgrade next year.

I like Mighten don't get me wrong, but still think he's a couple of years away from the level Forest are currently playing at.

Fuckingell, gloomy or what!

I may as well stop putting some of my pension aside towards renewing my season-card.

Thankfully, I have a little more faith in the owner, the CEO, the head-coach and the recruitment team than you clearly do mate.

I expect some of the money from Worrall/Johnson's sales to be put aside to help fund running costs/ease FFP pressures, but I'm confident that at least some of it will also be reinvested into the squad. If we were in such bad shape that we had to use all of the money from Worrall and Johnson's sales to keep the club going then I doubt we'd have spent the best part of £4.5m in January.

If we don't go up we can assume Johnson will go. The good thing about the cup run is that we are likely to get nearer £25m for him now. The rumour was that the reason he didn't sign the contract offered was that his team wanted a buyout at £8m and Forest wanted £12m. Thank god it didn't get signd.
We should be able to spend £20m of the £25m and keep inside FFP. That's big bucks in the Championship. An ideal scenario would be that Cash goes to Athletico and we have a sell on, we should then trade that and maybe some cash for Davis.
We are still after Wallace who will be a free transfer (albeit a big signing on fee). With Mighten a year older, Grabban resigned and Lolley back to fitness and maybe a player like Bowler (t around £3m) we will have good attacking options.

In Midfield we need to replace Zinc and Garner but with money to buy good players or offer good money for loanees we have to rely on Murphy and the back room team to address that.

Worrall won't necessarily be snapped up, Bretford came in and then changed their minds and there wasn't a long queue behind them plus he is 25 now, so maybe we are his level. As ever we need a left back but our luck with that position must surely change.

So there a slightly more optimistic analysis. Even more optimistic is that all this is fantasy as we will be promoted!
