I was one of those who voted 'no'. To me at the time it was just another name on the long list of names on the magical manager merry-go-round. My confidence and belief that we could bring in a manager that actually knew what he was doing was totally shot. However, after the first few results my faith was quickly restored.

I often have a dislike for opposing managers whose teams play us off the park, but I remember saying to my son when Cooper's Swansea hammered us in the cup, "He's a funny looking bloke, but he bloody knows what he's doing. I wouldn't mind him at Forest one day."
On the day he joined Forest my son reminded me of this, and after the playoff final I basked in the glory of it.
