Good luck to them and him on this. More financially secure than derby, but I guess even the blue Jay in my garden with a shiny coke can is more financially secure, so that isn't saying much.
Will be in a higher division than Derby next season also.

Well done Mr Cook, sir.

Remember reading somewhere that he didn't see eye to eye with Parker, which is one of the reasons why he left.

According to Cherries mate, Parker told Cook last December that there were too many aging centre backs at Bournemouth, and that a young loan player from the Scouse was coming in, and that the Board had told Parker that either Cahill or Cook would have to go. Parker chose to keep Cahill, and as Cook had been a loyal club servant the Board agreed to him leaving on a free transfer.
Cahill spent most of the rest of last season our injured, and retired from playing at the end of last season.
Wise choice, Scott Parker!

Given Cook's contribution towards our promotion, I for one completely back Parker and Bournemouth's choice to let him go on a free transfer!

When Parker joined the club, he chose Cook as the player to take the 'new broom' treatment. As Club Captain who was there for more than a decade and gaining promotion through the leagues, to be the player a new manager chooses to show there's a new boss in town is a bit disrespectful.

Thanks Parker, I’m glad your incompetence helped us get promoted.

I’ll give you a clap next season when you’ve got Watford promoted on the last day of the season on goal difference fighting off the challenge of a club who’s spent a tenner.

Steve Cook clearly wears his heart on his metaphorical sleeve, and I have exactly zero problems with that.

It is fair to say, Forest would not have gone up without him, and for that alone - if nothing else - we should be grateful.

He was an inspired signing for the level we were at. Whether he's what we need at our current level remains to be seen, but like a couple of other senior ones who probably won't get much game time now (Cafu & Colback), if he and the club are happy to be part of the squad then so am I. Good eggs always welcome!

I have always wondered how and why we got him for free so this makes sense.

What a f***ing stupid decision and great deal for us both in the end

I think Cafu will be kept around. He's an all round good egg, never lets anyone down and now he could be a key factor in helping Lodi settle with the Portuguese language factor.

I’ve seen Player-Managers and Player-Coaches before, but should we appoint him ‘Player-Interpreter’?

Surely we can only keep players around that offer something on the pitch? Whatever he's on its a lot of money to be effectively giving away for someone to 'be a good egg'. The man is a professional footballer not a cheerleader. It's not exactly doing his career much good either as he won't even make the bench here realistically..

Some tough choices need to be made IMO and sentiment can't dictate our decision-making.

You're thinking is extremely one dimensional.

Don't underestimate the positive influence of having someone in the dressing room that can knit team harmony together. I've been around dressing rooms with and without them of similar ability and the one that has a character that can pull everyone together positively is not a waste.

They can be extremely fragile places and there is a very good reason why Cooper has kept Cafu around and Bong previously.
