Steve Anthony Cook

I've no doubt that would have had an effect on the team. I thought they looked nervous at the start of the game, but perhaps it was just the dark cloud of Steve's dad being very poorly.

Must have had an effect.

Certainly gives a sense of perspective and would be hard for the younger players to process.

All credit to Cook for playing on, can understand why even after all the head injuries he refused to come off.

Steve Cooper has spoken before about getting players with the right character into the squad.

Steve Cook has demonstrated that in buckets since he joined in January, and he’s shown he’s an absolute leader.

And more so, for him to continue last night, after what happened just before the match, is frankly astonishing.

Absolute top respect for Steve Cook. And best wishes for Mr. Cook senior.

It's all been said, but I just like my two penn'orth.

Top guy Steve after that showing with that on his mind. All love and hope to Mr Cook for a full recovery.

I echo the words of a Bournemouth fan:

"Hope his Dad is o.k. To play a game of that magnitude after something like that has happened is a testament to his character".

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Mr Cook senior.

Well done the paramedics.

What a frankly brilliant signing he’s been.

Maybe considered a gamble at the time, but it shows the attention to detail the club put in, to go and get a player of his experience, who’s been there, and done it.

It’s these sorts of decision that give me quiet confidence that the club - perhaps finally - knows what it’s doing.

Didn't put a foot wrong all game, hasn't put a foot wrong since he signed.

This guy is pure class, and helped raise the game of McKenna and Worrall.

He also comes readymade with a lot of Premier League experience and for all the exciting possible signings we'll need a couple like Cook.

He, along with Surridge and Davis, has been a brilliant signings. All three were absolutely vital in helping us get over the line. Cook especially.

He's been phenomenal, it's amazing what an impact a player can have after 4 months.

Blokes a legend and I cannot see why we got him for free.

Absolutely he's been my favorite signing this season and there's been fierce competition to pick from. Didn't put a foot wrong in any of the playoff games

Imagine how it must feel for him even as a seasoned pro, despite playing at the top level I think it's safe to say he's never had a reception quite like he gets from the Forest faithful (full disrespect to Bournemouth intended)

I think even some premier League players haven't had that sort of reception. There are so many tourist fans in the premier League who just go to games for the sake of it, and then sit quietly. In massive stadiums sound escapes anyway, it why Liverpool fans said "we were intimidating" them earlier in the season

Bournemouth are eejits.

This man is not only a great defender but comes across like a truly brilliant and real human being.

Your loss. Our gain.

100% just look at Citys title parade compared to our promotion celebration this afternoon. I'm going to sound very biased but you can't buy what we have, there's something very special at our club that very few clubs have and I don't think anyone of us could fully explain it. You just have to experience it

A lot of good folk have poured their blood sweat and tears into establishing this club as the one we love today, we must never forget that. From the heights of europe to an entire generation of suffering outside the top division, one thing that never faded was our pride in this football club

On the contrary 'Clubs' that paved their way to modern success with endless money have more connection with their marketing contacts than their fan bases. That approach breeds no soul, just temporary customers adopting you as a brand

Hes what put a lie to the idea that its all about signing 23 year olds.
Age doesn't matter as much as quality and attitude....

He is probably the signing that got us over the line. Added maturity, attitude, leadership and above all, quality, to an already very good back line.

Chances are we would still have been able to do it with JW, TF and SMcK playing, as illustrated we didn't lose any real solidity at the back when SC was injured.

But the signing probably did help, an extra player around who has done it before, and has the tactical discipline to ensure the side keeps its shape on the pitch is always good.

Given that signing him meant TF could be a cover player where previously this was Mbe Soh and Ely, who were both injured or nowhere near the team for most of the season, then it did put less pressure on the existing players to play all the time, and conversely more on them to play well and keep their place.

If you look at the first few posts on here most people are saying it's a bad signing or at the very least (like me) questioning why we need it unless it's a replacement for an outgoing... Well, I suppose as he effectively replaced Ely in terms of numbers it was, but made an impact on the team and the squad.

I suppose so many times we've seen a player we know who's looked good for other clubs and is approaching or past the 30 mark come here and look shit and be on high wages, Harry Arter for example, and perhaps rightly didn't see necessarily that this one wasn't the case, but then hindsight is great isn't it?

Given how astute DM and SC have shown to be so far, they would have done enough diligence on Cook to realise what he was going to offer.

Couple of things:

1) City have won the league a few times in a row now, so it's not as special. We wouldn't have seen the scenes we did yesterday if it was say a 5th promotion in 10 years because we'd been a yo-yo club for a decade.
2) City have accumulated a lot of tourist fans (largely American) and lots of the media about them is with that in mind, so it does look a bit watered down.

Plenty of die hard City fans. They were pulling big crowds when they were in League One at Maine Road, despite Man Utd's domination of the 90s. Good club, one of the few outside Forest I've got time for (Sheffield Wednesday, Everton, Villa, Wolves, Charlton and Preston is probably the full list).

Good luck to them and him on this. More financially secure than derby, but I guess even the blue Jay in my garden with a shiny coke can is more financially secure, so that isn't saying much.
