I'm surprised VAR didn't look at the 2nd, which looked more of a pen than the 1st. Toffolo trying to be Jack Laugher in response to running past what was Colback with both feet on the ground at that point was somewhat laughable and if there was contact it wasn't really avoidable.

It did look a bit of 6 and 2 threes with the 2nd though, Lowe and O'Brien did get a bit tangled up, both went down over it, and maybe it just looked like it wasn't actually a foul but two players kicking each other.

It's not clear cut and dissecting it with VAR isn't really the point of VAR because it wasn't an obvious error to overturn.

I've seen similar skirmishes given but it would be a bit harsh really, what's Lowe meant to do, keep 2m apart or something?

I am guessing HUddersfield fans will be livid. And rightfully so. We dodged two serious bullets today.

Overall I didn't think Moss's performance was too bad today. We didn't have the all in wrestling that Sheffield U got away with against Brennan and he also let the game flow pretty well for a match that was palpably tense and nervous and needed more stoppages like a hole in the head.

I simply cannot understand the VAR decision for the first "pen" today. It was as stone wall as I think I've ever seen-even if you are arguing that the lad made a meal of the contact, if he hadn't tried to lift his leg after the clip (which he surely didn't have to) it would have looked even worse for Colback. Its not the referees fault that the VAR people made such a hash of that, when you are ref'ing a game and you know VAR is in play you are effectively letting them take control of those decisions.

The second one was less convincing for me-it was a clumsy tangle of legs and I've seen them given but also not, although if I had to put my house on it I'd have said "pen".

What ever its now history so who gives a f***-we are there and don't have to think about Refs and so on for a good few months!

I think colback was right. Their lad initiated the contact. Totally playing for a penalty. Similar one to yates v Liverpool.

The second one though I wouldn’t have complained at.

Not sure how you cam argue that when he clearly flicks his leg out.

I think it is fairly obvious he was trying to make contact to go down. He was buying it. Obviously the ref ten yards away and var agreed. I accept they are given but I’m not having it as a penalty in a million years.

I don’t think that is bias as I definitely think the other was one.

Re: Standard of Referees "Numpty-Hood-Watch"

I was a lomg way away but the first one was obviously a massive dive. Second one looked stonewall though and I can’t believe they didn’t VAR it.

Don’t f***ing care though

I think it was a 50/50. He was looking to buy it but equally it was a stupid challenge. They will be punished in the PL.

First was a confirmed dive - even got the yellow out for it after VAR checked it.

Second was a foul on Lowe all day long. Rightfully a free kick to us.

The VAR check was by Prem officials, so we wouldn't have got punished in the Prem. And whatever, as the wise man said, the score was 1-0, we won.

Forest have been done in by shit decisions against us all season.

Even if both of these decisions were penalties, and I'm still not entirely convinced they were, there's that old saying "they even out over the course of the season."

Well, I think it's bollocks but yesterday we got the refereeing decisions we have not had all season. Had we had reasonable decisions all season, Forest probably would have finished second anyway.

Both stonewall pens to be fair. Got away with it big time.

Reckon our supporters outnumbering theirs 10 to 1 helped sway Moss.

Bet Stevie Coop put a word in with his dad to make sure we got a decision or two in our favour to seal the deal!

It is about time we got a bit of luck. Look how long this thread is.

Refs will get better in the division above, but only slightly.

I don't think having VAR at every game will improve my opinion of it as well. Every goal you score it'll be at the back of your mind are they gonna disallow this.

Brilliant referee display yesterday, 100% got the penalty shouts correct. I’m not sure why anyone in Yorkshire is moaning

I've run seconds 16-18 here backwards and forwards many times now and it's really hard to tell https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12623813/huddersfield-denied-penalty-for-diving

Jack was obviously relieved when it wasn't given as he crossed himself, but from the video it is hard to see what contact was made.

Watch Steve Cook, just wide of the 6 yard box!!! Thinks he’s given it! Haha

First replay I’ve seen and it looks exactly as I saw it live, Toffolo has decided in advance he’s going to get there first then dive. I can’t see any contact at all.

If he just carries on running that’s a stonewall penalty all day long as Colback does have a nibble. Why the f*** did he decide to do that ridiculous dive???

First one could very well have been given but Toffolo made it look like a dive. I've asked the question many times - why do players go down like that? If you continue your natural movement and the opponent takes you out, there's no argument is there.

I don't see why the second one would be a penalty. O'Brien is very good at doing the Jamie Vardy trick of stepping across people and going down screaming. Entirely predictable and the ref didn't fall for it.

Maybe we should have put through our own net to make it fair for Hudders?

we always said refereeing decisions would hopefully balance out over the season, I think Sunday helped level out all our grievances for the full season!

Watched it again last night. For the second there were no real appeals, just half hearted arms out from a couple of players. If you are the VAR ref I think that sways you - no one is appealing it can't be a pen. Looked stone wall to be. The first one was in the 'I've seen them given' category for me. Never mind, Samba would have saved them both anyway.

First one was a dive, second one was deliberately initiated by O'Brien. Not a dive, but not a penalty either.

No bias there either, on first viewing I thought the second one was absolute stone wall penalty and we got away with it.

The first one looked a dive from my view at Wembley. Having seen the replays since, it looks a drive in real time, a penalty on the first replay angle, and on the second one from the reverse angle looks like what Colback said about him initiating the contact so I can see why it wasn't overturned.

I said straight away the 2nd wasn't a pen and I stand by that having seen it again.
