Re: Standard of Referees "Numpty-Hood-Watch"

It's Jon "Tubby" Moss on Sunday.

Retiring after the game.

To quote former ref Mark Clattenburg today, who's not impressed with the selection:

"The first reason is when I was retiring from refereeing, I was told I couldn't oversee a game with anything riding on it because with it being my last, the PGMOL couldn't risk sentimentality clouding my mind when I had a job to do. I understood that. I didn't want to impact the integrity of the competition, so my Premier League farewell in 2017 was West Brom against Leicester – very much a mid-table clash.

"Yet Moss is now going to be overseeing the biggest game in English football, possibly the most high-pressure match an official can be handed given promotion to the Premier League is what's at stake."

"The second reason is the 51-year-old lives in Leeds. With his Yorkshire ties, I'm not sure it's the wisest move to have him referee a match of this magnitude involving Huddersfield. Especially given Forest's gripes with the refereeing of late. VAR is there as a safety net at Wembley but if anything controversial happens, it gives the critics ammunition. Moss will appreciate the trust his bosses are showing in him, but I'm not sure the refereeing body have helped themselves or their official here."

Seen some Huddesfield fans on twitter not happy about it either, their take is that he'll want his final game to be getting the 'sleeping giants' back into the Prem and favour us during it. Doubt it, but nobody seem shappy about this!

If Jon Moss is the ref I hope the Karma Chameleons see that we don't end up being the Victims, but It's A Miracle if that happens, as we seem to be a Culture Club to knock.

You’ve clearly put some thought into that one!

It must have taken - Time.

Not happy with Moss as the ref in this final. For me, he has always been a mediocre ref---questionable fitness, dodgy foul recognition, and he seems the type to have that "oh yeah? I'll show you" type of mentality I find poor among referees. I don't think "last hurrahs" should be on big games. Very poor assignment by the football league.

Thankyou Steve!
You know what, we've given refs some stick on this thread over the years, but we really need to acknowledge good performances when we get them.

We've been on the end of so many questionable decisions the past few years, I do admit that I would have given one of the 2 penalties but in all honesty if the ref, linesmen and VAR didn't then on this occiaison am more than happy to be overuled.

Last night I felt that Madrids 1st goal should have stood and VAR ruled it out, not clear and obvious enough and ours weren't either but full sympathy with Huddersfield at the same time because if the shoe was on the other foot I would probably felt hard done by.

For me the first wasn’t a penalty but the second was. Just shows what I know as everyone seems to think it was the other way.

Had the rub of the green today. Make no mistake if the roles were reversed we'd be spitting feathers.

First wasn't but difficult to argue too much if it was given. Second was nailed on and I can't believe they didn't look at it.

Happy retirement John Moss, you won't be able to go to huddersfield any time soon, which isn't the worst thing to be honest.
