The major problem for me is that Dyche isn’t adaptable so it makes our large squad pointless now. That’s meant to be a strength of ours but because Dyche can’t pay gameplans to adapt to players strengths we now look like we have a massive rebuild again when it didn’t need to. We needed much better Ange that’s what we needed not a poorer nuno in Dyche

Yet he's got more out of players like McAtee and Hutch than either previous manager.

By points tally we'd be what 11th/12th under Dyche? Would you take that next season? I certainly would. You're gonna get the odd stinking performance, especially when fringe players are not stepping up/good enough. Dyche has proven that he can get a tune out of this team. Let's get behind him.

Good shout.

The table since Dyche arrived...

And some posters on here will deep throat Nuno and Glasner, but constantly hate on Dyche

Imagine getting Glasner in to have to endure the train wreck which he's turned Palace's season into. Did we learn nothing from Nuno?

12th is above par for me considering the Euro adventure.

I didn’t want him to- but I am totally behind him.
I don’t think I want want him next season - but if he has done enough to still be here - I will be right behind him again

Exactly this. Nobody actually wants him to fail.

As a bloke he actually seems like a good guy, knows the city, he's English and has historic links to the club along with his staff. I would love him to be the manager to take us forward as he ticks virtually every box that will get the fans on board. Notwithstanding the fact that changing a manager once again isnt ideal.

But unfortunately he has displayed a number of managerial limitations in his time here that concern me and a large number of fans. I'd like to think that this is because needs must and points are the priority but his previous career suggests it's the rule rather than the exception.

Of course if the results carry on being decent and there seems to be an improvement in other areas I'd be happy with him taking the pre-season and seeing where we're at next season. I struggle to see it but would embrace it if it happens.

I don't believe that long term he is the man EM wants anyway so it's probably irrelevant anyway.

The problem Dyche has is all of his stinker performances seem to come one after another. You really don't want 6 weeks of it.
I agree though, we should be behind him and generally he's doing well.

I can understand why an outsider would be confused as the results have been reasonable under Dyche, at least now anyway. If you just looked at them you'd think he should be manager next season for sure.

If you watch the performances though...
Didn’t see anything wrong with that last performance.

But apparently he can adapt to going down to ten men with half a game left.

Adapted by taking a midfielder off and putting a defender on and sitting in a low block and countering. Real revolutionary stuff.

He even managed to cock up the sub as well.

He's come in to do a safety-first job in a desperate situation, whilst having to deal with a fair amount of key injuries and absences.

You talk like he's had a full pre-season with a fully fit squad and in a rosy situation. The situation itself limits our options.

Nobody just now. And in the summer it's not really my job to identify a new manager given I have no access to who will be available or who would be interested and have limited knowledge to who is doing well on the continent currently.

If for example someone had a crystal ball and told me Marco Silva was going to replace Dyche this summer I'd be happy with that (assuming Dyche continues as he has done). He's obviously a better manager than Dyche too as Fulham beat us when they last met...

Dyche isn’t perfect but I think some people are underplaying how much of a mess we were when he came in, we’d just sacked Ange who didn’t win a game and essentially destroyed any chance of us having a successful season (Nuno + Recruitment started it).

Yes we’ve had some stinking performances but we’ve also had some real good performances like Palace, Spurs and Liverpool. We’ve beaten every team at the bottom so far and IMO will pretty comfortably stay up.

I really believe we could do a lot worse than keep him for next season while we restructure things behind the scene and decide on an actual long term plan as opposed to us changing what we want every 5 minutes.

I do think that we’re making a change in summer regardless of what happens from now till May, but as I’ve said hundreds of times unless our recruitment improves we will spend more years in a relegation fight than not, I hope we’re not looking for another firefighter at Christmas time because our ‘progressive’ new manager can’t get a tune of our squad on a consistent basis.

This is the narrative pushed by many, and I just dont buy it, the season was hardly beyond the point of no return when Ange went was it? Was it 8 games?

I was very vocal about not wanting Dyche and hes done nothing to change my mind, hes doing an average job in my opinion nothing more. I still think someone else could have done better. Some of the football has been the worse ive seen since Megson

For those who like to sing about what a great job hes doing and how hes pushed us on- hes had 21 games (so 63 available points) and has improved our league position by........one place, hardly the second coming of Brian is it?

Ill always support this team whoever is manager but i would like to see him gone in the summer

Interesting that in the game postings you claimed Dyche played 4-4-1 after the red card.

Those around me all agreed it was 4-3-2 with Gibbs-White pushing up alongside Jesus the N’Doye. This meant that Palace were forced wide and played endless passes from side to side.

Dyche confirmed this in his interview with Radio Nottingham after the game.

Perhaps we were watching a different game.

Most supporters would accept that Dyche is not a football messiah but was the man to address our car crash season after Nuno and Ange. So far he has restored our fortunes and needs to continue this so that we don’t slip back into the relegation places.

At a time when we need to wholeheartedly close ranks and give our full support to the team and management, it’s disappointing that some supporters give little credit to Dyche but find opportunities to criticise him in every game.

Of course everyone is entitled to their view but they must recognise the impact of their ongoing criticism. It’s very easy to know what you don’t want but every time you are asked who you would replace Dyche with your response is it’s not your responsibility.

In football be careful what you wish for.

And the fact that Forest appointed that fraud Postecoglu for a chunk of the season.
Also the mediocre recruitment and the unrealistic ambition surrounding Forest.

We realistically can’t compete with the cartel clubs and are making up the numbers in the Premier League (as
are 10 or 12 other clubs).

Ambition is fine but it needs to be tempered with attainable targets and stability.

The whole pre-season was a shambles too.

Including that, we'd won only 1 game in 18 prior to Dyche arriving.*

Nuno attacking the owner and his sacking; players coming to a club to play for one manager, instantly having to play for another, and being handed yet another shortly after; players like Wood and Murillo injured etc....the club was in an utter shambles when Dyche arrived.

And he's turned all this round with spending relatively little too.

(*To contrast, since Dyche arrived, we've won 10 games in 23. )

In the league we’ve gone from played 8 for five points to played 24 for 26 points. The reference to one place (so far) is critical - it’s the difference between staying up and relegation.

We’ve seen wide variations in performance with some excellent performances and results and some poor performances and results. Dragging a team from the basement of the league is no easy task especially with our disappointing summer recruitment, and long-term injuries to key players. The brief to Dyche was to keep Forest up and to date he is delivering. This is the most impotent issue this season. The owner will decide what happens in the summer.

Fair enough, one thing though he hasnt turned it around yet we are still in danger

He has mate.

We were in the relegation zone and below Burnley before Dyche arrived. He's dragged us out of that and 6pts clear of relegation.

That's a turnaround. He needs to sustain and ideally improve that, but the big turnaround has already happened.
